Located opposite Southern Cross Station in Melbourne CBD the Great Southern Hotel Melbourne features a 24-hour reception and offers nonsmoking rooms with air conditioning and private private bathrooms. Ironing facilities and hairdryers are included in some rooms. 2023 UPGRADE NOTICE October 2023 through April 2024 GSH Melbourne will be replacing our 44 Spencer St Elevators (Elevator #1 and #2) entirely. Each elevator will be out of action for approx. 12 weeks each - this project will commence on 01.10.23 and be completed by 01.04.2024. Floors 1-5 will be accessible via Elevator 1 while level 6 will be accessible via 23 stairs from level 5. The management apologizes for the extended waiting times for elevator going up and down floors due to increased usage of the existing elevator during the upgrade works.* With this major project you should anticipate: • Varied noise levels between the hours of 7:00 am and 6.00 pm daily. Some noise levels may be loud or repetitive at times. • Work crews do not work on Sundays unless they experience weather delays. • There may be limited access to the buildings and courtyard at various times. Disliked: The bed was uncomfortable, the carpet was dirty, and the room had a strange smell. The listing said it was a queen room, but it was just a regular room the price is not fair for what we got

Liked: Room was super neat and cozy small. Extra blankets were available within reach. Self check-in was a major convenience.
Disliked: If only the lights had a mechanism that allows it to be dimmed instead of being switched fully off.
