Great Hallingbury Manor

Great setting, but not during...

Liked: The setting is idyllic and the rooms are well-apportioned.
Disliked: If you stay here during a heat wave in the summer, it is terrible. The location is right next to London Stansted airport and planes land every 5 minutes all day and all night. You can keep all the windows closed with good weather but on hot days, you have to have the windows open or it stays over 35° inside. But then you hear the non-stop planes flying only a few feet over your head. Either the heat keeps you awake or the planes keep you awake, and there is no way out of it.

Liked: Large, comfortable room, good restaurant, friendly staff and lovely grounds to relax in.

Great place to stay just...

Liked: The staff were great and room was large
Disliked: Electrics need to be checked. Fan didn’t work in the bathroom, some plug sockets didn’t work and aerial was too short to reach the TV.
