Room was absolutely the hotest...

Don’t stay in hot weather!

Liked: The Hotel itself is beautiful. Set in the most beautiful grounds.
Disliked: We stayed at Great Fosters during Ascot week. The weather was very hot. There is no air conditioning in the hotel. I can appreciate that it is an old building, but absolutely nothing had been done to make our room more comfortable. We were in the top floor and the room was hotter than an oven. There was an old unit in the room which hadn’t been switched on even though the staff knew we were coming. I asked for another fan and was given a dusty old one which blew dirt all over the bed. At 7am the next morning a thermometer was showing 35 degrees! To top it all off the shower was also dirty. If we hadn’t had a few drinks at Ascot we would have got in our car and gone home!

Disliked: I was disappointed with the whole experience, the hotel stay was purchased as a birthday gift. I turned up and there were no facilities for me to use my hair straighteners or get changed, I was referred to a toilet - in all other experiences there is either a spare bedroom available or hospitality rooms. The service was awful - having to wait half an hour for a coffee, to be served the wrong breakfast and told that I had to wait if I didn’t get down to the restaurant at a certain time… and then to top it off, we weren’t not allowed to use the spa on the day of checkout as check out was at 11 am and you couldn’t use it past this point. Again usually, many 5 star hotels can be a little bit more flexible and accommodating!

Disappointing

Liked: Grounds and swimming pool glorious. Really beautiful. And hotel building is charming. Reception on departure really helpful providing me with delicious coffee for my journey.
Disliked: Room was a broom cupboard. Beyond cosy. Had to shimmy round the furniture! Impossibly hot. Took me three attempts to get a fan. Eventually it arrived at 1am. Requests continually forgotten. Supplies in room of uninspiring quality and not replenished. Needed THREE days notice for a picnic. En site restaurant fully booked three weeks prior to arrival. And bar menu option not really appealing as an alternative.

Beautiful old building, disappointing room.

Liked: Great location for Ascot Race Course and a beautiful old building and gardens.
Disliked: The description of the room on booking.com was inaccurate. The room was very small and very hot. The air conditioning unit was not effective.

Liked: The room was excellent, the hotel is lovely and the gardens beautiful
Disliked: The hotel restaurant was disappointing, the better restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesday.
