Grand Hotel Bellevue - Grand Place

One of the most disappointing...

Liked: Great location. Friendly staff when checking in. Central hall looks quite prestigious. Beds were quite okay. Thankfully no keycard system so the lights would stay on in your room. No airconditioning was great, because of the absence of hateful noise all the time (the general temperature did not require it either).
Disliked: The cushions were rather damp and stale, did not seem fresh or cleansed recently. The whole room featured a rather unhygienic carpet that probably had not been hoovered recently either. The water system with double taps per sink was incredibly clumsy and did not function properly, taking ages to heat up as well. The shower, especially the rain shower, was a joke - providing a small drizzle at most. No proper cupboards or storage space was available, only a weird set of antiquated drawers. On the television, only a random selection of French channels was installed, not corresponding with the official programming - most of these even proved to be unavailable because of 'no signal'. Not a 'belle vue' at all, through the window just a miserable outlook on the back walls and staircase. No special options provided whatsoever, e.g. a fitness, wellness or whatever, which for the serious money I paid for 2 nights proved completely disproportional. The pictures were attractive, but looking back, this was one of the most disappointing accommodations I have stayed in ever.

An excellent stay in Lille

Liked: The perfect location to explore Lille. The hotel is a little dated but charming and the roof top bar is lovely.
Disliked: The rooms are slightly dated now. There are clearly not enough tables for breakfast. We had to wait both days to be seated and only after people had left.

Lovely hotel in a superb...

Liked: Hotel was in a great location for us, only a 10 minute walk from Lille Europe. It is also amongst all the bars and restaurants right in the centre. Check in was easy. The room was spacious and clean and loved the decor. The roof top bar was a highlight for us. We spent both nights having a cocktail or two before heading out - the service was exceptional.
Disliked: Breakfast could have been better. Only a small room that was extremely crowded and the selection was not good. I'm not sure the bread was fresh as it was very hard and not really edible. We were here for two nights and opted to eat out for the breakfast on our second morning. It did not really affect our stay though - we still loved the hotel!
