Good for short stay
Liked: It is in Roosevelt island, way quieter than Manhattan, suitable for the families with small kids. Room size and comfort is better than many hotels in Manhattan as well.
Disliked: There was hair in the towels and bathroom. The sheets were with holes and stains as well. Breakfast serving was delayed; after 15 min we sat they took our order even though there were not many people.

Liked: Great location and good beds
Disliked: Nothing except that the price per night is as impressive as is the view on Manhattan

Great. Would recommend.
Liked: Fab location and great socialising facilities. The views were phenomenal. Location is excellent to get away from the busy centre on manhattan and really well served by subway and tramway.
Disliked: The room was quite small for 4 people but we managed. The wardrobe was almost unusable and there was a distinct lack of storage space or movement space for 4 people.

Exceptional
Liked: The location was just amazing. The views from the room and the bar up stairs are better than almost any $50 observation decks around the city.
Disliked: If I have to be picky: no coffee maker (but plenty of free coffee in the lobby) and the closet is WAY too small.

Absolute no-brainer for comfortable midtown...
Liked: Loved the attention to detail, even if some of the decor seemed like an in-joke I didn’t get! It’s a great building and the library lobby is both welcoming and fun. Room was exactly what we needed as a cozy base to explore the city for a short break, the view facing south was predictably majestic and of course beaten only by the Panorama Bar, which we went to both nights as the weather was so different. Above all the concept of a hotel this pleasant and efficient right next to the Tramway on Roosevelt Island is a gift to NYC visitors, and I would definitely consider coming back, especially when the staff were so professional and kind too. I hope it stays a quiet hot tip for those in the know!
Disliked: As mentioned, the quirky cartoon humor of the decor creates a certain vibe that might be off-putting to some depending on the occasion, but didn’t bother us as the overall comfort level and building design was so great. We just felt we’d missed the joke (and I did go to an ivy at one point which didn’t help me “get it”, though the library vibe brought back good memories). No other negatives, and the value for money is above average for current NYC rates, even if prices seem high for European travelers.
