The Spotlight on GOLF View Hotel & Macintosh Restaraunt

Seaside Comfort with a Scottish Twist

Modern yet full of coastal charm, the GOLF View Hotel & Macintosh Restaurant sits just a short walk from both Lossiemouth West and East Beach. With scenic sea views, a relaxed atmosphere, and a warm welcome, this 4-star hotel offers a quiet and comfortable base for concert-goers exploring Scotland’s Moray coast. Free WiFi, on-site dining, and family-friendly rooms make it a well-rounded option for music lovers who prefer a more tranquil setting.

Why Concert-goers love it

Whether you're catching a local gig in nearby Elgin or heading to one of the coastal venues, this hotel offers easy access without the late-night city noise. Just 5.7 miles from Elgin Cathedral (a hotspot for events), it's close enough to the action but far enough for a peaceful recovery. The free private parking is a win if you're road-tripping, and with check-in from 14:00 and check-out at 11:00, the schedule is flexible enough to suit most gig-goers.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a scenic weekend near the sea and sound
  • Solo travelers catching a special show in the Moray area
  • Couples after a romantic concert escape
  • Fans who want a quiet spot to unwind post-gig
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want 4-star comfort

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Macintosh Restaurant serves up hearty Scottish fare, ideal for pre-show fuel or a post-concert bite. The hotel bar offers a cozy space to sip local whiskies or a nightcap. While 24-hour room service isn’t available, the restaurant and bar are perfect for evening dining, and the peaceful location means you can enjoy a slow breakfast the next morning without the rush.

Nightlife Options

While Lossiemouth isn’t known for a booming nightlife scene, you’ll find a few friendly pubs within walking distance. The hotel’s own bar makes a great place to start or end your evening, with a laid-back vibe and local drinks. Elgin, just a 15-minute drive away, offers more options if you're looking to keep the night going after the encore.

What People Say

Guests love the clean and spacious rooms, friendly staff, and the beautiful sea views from the terrace. Many highlight the peaceful atmosphere, making it a great spot to unwind after a high-energy show. The food gets strong marks too, especially the fresh local ingredients.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the decor is slightly dated in places, and the lack of an elevator may be a consideration if you have mobility concerns. Also, if you’re looking for late-night eats after a gig, your options are a bit limited in town.

The Bottom Line

A peaceful, scenic base with great food and a relaxed vibe – perfect for concert-goers who want comfort without the chaos.

Good

Liked: The room was clean and large enough for two with a reasonably comfortable bed. There was a lovely view of the coast outside of our room. The staff were very nice, and the check in was simple and straightforward. The price was the best in the area, not as extortionate as some of the other local options.
Disliked: There weren’t any hooks in the room which was frustrating, especially for wet towels. There also isn’t a mirror other than the one in the bathroom, which obviously fogs up and can’t be used after a shower. The tea tray wasn’t well stocked with sugar, though I’m sure you can request more easily enough.

Gorgeous hotel in a really...

Liked: The location was stunning, the views from my room were breathtaking. The room was much bigger and more lavishly furnished than I had expected. The telescope in the room was a great touch - sadly the dolphins weren't around during my stay.
Disliked: It didn't bother me, but for those not aware the nearby air base conducts flights at irregular hours (it's part of the UK frontline air defence response) which while not overwhelming (I heard one night flight) is something that any visitor to the area needs to bear in mind. If you sleep lightly and head to Moray, best to bring ear plugs just in case the base is busier.

It was a good two...

Liked: The food was excellent. Couldn’t fault it.
Disliked: We were in an annex which was ok but steep steps to reception with no inside access from annex to hotel. The room was clean but pillows very uncomfortable and despite changing them still uncomfortable. Remote control was mucky and requested it to be cleaned which they did.
