Living history in quirky hotel.

Liked: Was so looking forward to staying here and it did not disappoint!!! Amazing room, very quirky with its portraits and slanting doors and floors, due to the age and foundations of the place. No ghosties visited us during the night and we slept amazingly well. Across the road from The Shambles which was chaotic when we arrived around 4pm. After dinner walk, great, hardly anyone around could really take in the sights. Same in the morning around 0930, best times to visit I reckon. York was incredible with so much history and easy walk to everything from the hotel

Great beds, great location...

Liked: Great quirky pub, lovely old building with uneven floors and lots of character. Bedroom was clean and beds were very comfortable.
Disliked: Pub itself is not so clean, floor absolutely filthy (old doesn't need to mean dirty). 1 staff member was very surly and not very friendly. We were able to leave our bags but they were just in an unlocked hallway that anyone could access. Breakfast was average. Shower was difficult to use as fixtures not attached to the wall properly.
