A haven of peace and tranquility this beautiful Victorian villa is ideally located in the lovely county of Monmouthshire South Wales overlooking the banks of the River Usk. Just a 5-minute stroll away from the picturesque town of Usk the privately-owned Glen-Yr-Afon aims to offer a relaxing stay in rural South Wales. A traditional Victorian property no 2 rooms are the same. Each one has its own individual character style and space. Some rooms even have 2 floors making them ideal for families. The Glen-yr-Afon has been a family-owned and family-run business since 1974. The hotel's award-winning Clarkes restaurant serves a choice of light bites and a menu to choose from each evening.

Lovely place close to Usk.we...

Liked: Space! Parking, room, property overall - all spacious. Staff exceptionally good - most professional of all the seven properties we stayed at during our three week Wales trip.
Disliked: The day we arrived the elevator/lift wasn’t working!

DISAPPOINTED AND UPSETTING

Disliked: As I have said the lift wasn't working and despite me telling them I had mobility issues I wasn't told the lift was not working So making me struggle up to the first floor for my room also still having to take two steps up and two down The impression we had was the lift had been out of action before we booked in on 22nd August 2025In more pain upset and spoilt the surprise birthday weekend for my husband.Have asked for investigation from booking. com and the hotel STILL WAITING 25TH AUGUST 2025

After being urged to book...

Liked: Yes, lovely. However the only lift was out of order. Our room was on the top floor and my wife is awaiting a knee operation and found it extremely difficult

Very enjoyable stay in great...

Liked: Location, the building and grounds, very friendly and efficient staff.Excellent dinner. Oh my the accompanying vegetables were exceptional. These days dinner often doesn’t include any greens but for one person it included new potatoes, chips, asparagus, brocoli, petite pois, squash.
Disliked: Unfortunately due to the extreme weather the bedroom was quite hot
