Victorian Charm by the River Ness – Perfect for a Music-Filled Getaway

Nestled on the picturesque banks of the River Ness, the Glen Mhor Hotel blends classic Victorian elegance with a relaxed Highland vibe. Just a short stroll from Inverness city centre, this collection of 11 charming townhouses places you within walking distance of iconic venues like Eden Court Theatre and Inverness Cathedral. Whether you're in town for a show or a weekend break, the riverside views and prime location make this hotel a standout choice.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel is a dream for gig-goers thanks to its 3-minute walk to central Inverness and direct views of Eden Court Theatre. The peaceful conservation area lets you unwind after a show without the city noise. With a 10-minute walk to the train station and easy access to the A9, getting in and out is a breeze—even after a late-night encore. Check-in starts at 16:00, and check-out is by 11:00, giving you time to sleep in and recover.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a stylish base near venues
  • Solo travelers ticking off that bucket-list concert
  • Couples planning a romantic weekend with a show
  • Fans wanting a quieter, scenic place to decompress
  • Budget-conscious music lovers seeking value and atmosphere

Food and Drink Options

While the Glen Mhor doesn’t offer 24/7 room service, there’s a cozy on-site bar and restaurant where you can grab a bite or enjoy a Highland dram after your gig. Delayed breakfast after a late night isn’t officially advertised, but staff are friendly and accommodating. With Inverness city centre just minutes away, you’ll find plenty of walkable eateries and late-night spots to fuel up.

Nightlife Options

You’re in the heart of Inverness’ cultural scene. Eden Court Theatre is just across the river, often hosting live music and performances. The nearby city centre offers pubs, cocktail bars, and live music joints—ideal for keeping the party going or winding down with a drink.

What People Say

Guests love the location—close to everything but still peaceful. The river views and proximity to Eden Court are frequently praised, as is the characterful historic architecture. Many reviewers highlight the friendly staff and easy access to both the city and the Highlands.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that rooms can vary depending on which townhouse you’re in, so it’s worth requesting a preference in advance. Also, while charming, the older buildings may lack some modern touches. Wi-Fi can be patchy in certain areas.

The Bottom Line

For anyone coming to Inverness for a concert or cultural event, Glen Mhor Hotel offers historic charm, river views, and unbeatable proximity to top venues—all in one beautifully walkable package.

Exceptional

Liked: The location was beautiful! Right by the river Ness and only a short walk to the town centre.
Disliked: The mattress was a bit too soft aka maybe a bit old. But everything else was great.

Fabulous location otherwise quite ordinary

Liked: The location is excellent and the onsite bar selling their own brewed beer was a nice touch.
Disliked: The room was disappointing, small and overlooking the car park. There was a fire alarm at 5.45 and no staff appeared to let us know if it was real or to organise people unsure whether to evacuate. Very poor show.

Good

Liked: Bed was very good. Shower itself great. Reception staff were very, very good.
Disliked: Mould around floor in hathroom. Bath tiles could do with a squirt of bleach cleaner every week. I'm 5ft 4in but couldn't see into the breakfast hot food containers - they are way too high (dangerously so for anyone shorter than me). Hot water urn should be beside the teabags so that coffee drinkers could get to the coffee urn (staff should give things a run-through and put themselves in the guests' shoes Fruit was really megre. No opportunity to get any other eggs than scrambled.
