A great place to stay...

Liked: We stayed at the Gilesgate Moor Hotel whilst completing the Weardale Way footpath between KIllhope, Upper Weardale and Sunderland. It was conveniently situated on popular bus routes so we could use local transport to get to and from our walks. The accommodation provided us with a sumptuous full English Breakfast every morning along with cereals/tea/coffee as required. Our room was comfortable and clean and gave us everything we needed.
Disliked: There was nothing not to like!

Liked: The room was clean and tea/coffee were supplied. Our bathroom was across the corridor but there was no one else on our floor so we had sole use of it.The hotel manager made room for our bikes in an outside shed, which was welcome. No evening meal was available but there were plenty of fast-food establishments nearby. Pizza Express suited us perfectly.Beds were comfortable and breakfast was satisfactory.
Disliked: An option to eat in would have been good but it wasn't a problem.

Great value for money

Liked: Very friendly welcome , couldn't do enough for you , very clean , good breakfast
Disliked: Decor was a little dated and basic but as you would expect for that price , the welcome and cleanliness went above and beyond

Nice stay in Durham

Liked: Jim and the staff were very friendly and they served a great breakfast. The bus stop almost outside the hotel is handy although we walked to the traffic lights for more frequent service.
Disliked: It’s not the fault of the hotel but traffic noise did affect our sleeping especially when one of the locals wants everyone hear his motorcycle.
