George Oxford Hotel

Absolutely dreadful. One step down from a run down youth hostel. Rooms dirty and small. Breakfast basic and delivered to room as there is no dining area. All in all - terrible.

Disliked: Narrow staircase

Great Location, Good Value, Comfortable

Liked: A great location, close to the railway station, all the tourist sights of Oxford, and also very close to a wide range of restaurants, pubs, cafes, etc. The room was exactly as advertised, comfortable beds and hot showers. Clean towels, linen and tea-making was appreciated. The room was fairly spacious and had all the facilities you'd expect. Check-in was easy and quick.
Disliked: Access to the second floor (where my room was) was only by stairs, but I did know this in advance. As it was on a main road and close to the New Theatre and pubs, it got noisy at night and early in the morning, but as it was summer I had the windows open (which was nice) and that let the noise in.

Disappointing

Liked: Room was quiet as we were in the back. Location is excellent, easy way from the station and close to the university buildings. Good shower.
Disliked: Room is very small & rundown, carpets are seedy, mattress felt worn out, .. we were glad to be in the back as it was quiet but there was standing water on the roof next to our window and since there was a roof just outside our window, we kept the window shut when we left the room so it was rather stuffy (no AC).Far too expensive for a rather shabby hotel.

Nice!

Liked: The room was fine, just what you expect, clean and tidy, and surprisingly good triple glazing blocking noise considering it's on a busy street.
Disliked: There was an odd smell in the entrance but nowhere else

Very good

Liked: Staff were very friendly. For the price the room was great. Central location so easy to find places to eat or buy food.
Disliked: Noisy outside overnight. You could minimise by clising the window, but still a lot going on in the street outside overnight.
