A lovely stay, we’d certainly...

Liked: It’s a lovely experience to stay here. If I’m honest, the property is a little dated and in need of a little fuss here and there BUT, and this is a big BUT. It may be a little old fashioned and I’d be tempted to maybe drop a point on the scoring here or there but I cannot do it, because actually, it’s simply a bit dated and that is it. It actually reminded me of growing up and it triggered some fond childhood memories, and I liked that. I found myself daydreaming about my youth at the breakfast table.SO. Back to the review. Yes it’s a little old fashioned but actually the place was immaculate. The view we had was a sea view and lovely. The room and bathroom was very very clean and tidy. Breakfast was very straight forward, with a pre order on the usual hot items and a help yourself on the cereals, cold meat and cheese and yogurt etc. the food and hot/cold drinks were more than plentiful, and all the labels etc for allergies etc clearly marked and well communicated. The carpark was large and we were close to the entrance. There is a lounge and bar if you wanted to relax or socialise and this too was clean and tidy.Upon arrival, we were greeted by an exceptionally nice man called Micheal. He was very warm and welcoming. He was well presented and polite and very approachable with an attitude that nothing was too much trouble if we needed help or information. In Fact, Micheal was the main event for us. He was very very professional and having served 25 years as an area manager which was lead by customer service management, I found Micheal to be a huge asset to this hotel, and he is the sole reason all of our scores are lifted to a clear and solid 10/10.Micheal greeted us, he signed us in, showed us to our room, gave us a tour of the hotel, advised us on the lounge and bar and took our breakfast order and was non stop pleasant and friendly. He seemed to be running the whole hotel single handed and worked from early until late. What a credit to the business.
Disliked: I loved everything, although more staff would be helpful, simply to take some of the workload from your star man.

Overpriced stay in a hotel...

Liked: Not a lot if I’m honest, we were here for 1 night and only saw 2 members of staff, checking in and at breakfast, maybe this had something to do with the fact there was no engagement or welcoming feel about the place.
Disliked: Hotel has a very tired look and could do with a refurb. Breakfast was poor and although we were asked to pre-order we were asked a couple of times what we had ordered they still got it wrong . The room we were given also had a tired look to it with old fashioned wicker chairs that had seen better days. Definitely feel like we paid more that stay was worth

One convenient stay in Gairloch

Liked: The location of the lodge fits our travel plan, the building and rooms are old and have their charms, the breakfast was a mix of buffet and hot food and filling. Beach, delicious restaurant, and harbour very close. Staff was helpful and accommodating.
Disliked: There was nothing to hang up the clothes in the bathroom, no shampoo, either.
