Relaxed atmosphere in a pretty...

Liked: The hotel was clean and was set in lovely grounds.
Disliked: The rooms are a bit dated but are clean. Breakfast was fairly good but not great. Only just warm and had probably been sitting in a hot plate for a while but there was a decent selection.

Fabulous place

Liked: Fabulous place in a fabulous location. The room was very large and well appointed with a four poster bed and it was very comfortable to sleep in. No outside noise or any other disturbance so a great nights sleep. The room also had a double bath with bubble jets which filled up fast and was a great way to unwind after a long journey. The staff were attentive and the good was fine too. Set in fantastic grounds bordering a fishing river which allowed a lovely morning stroll and the sight of a kingfisher too.I understand that the place was purchased quite recently and will be further improved. I look forward to seeing how things have progressed on my next visit.

Beautiful hidden treasure!

Liked: The beautiful scenes while driving up to the hotel.The staff were so pleasent & nothing was a bother.The room was gorgeous & very clean.The spa bath was amazing, definitely just the bit of relaxation that was needed after getting married.
Disliked: Not a thing.

Disappointing

Liked: Quiet location off the beaten track with good view of private lake.
Disliked: The room was above a billiard room and gents toilet. When guests closed doors there was a bang which reverberated through to my room. The cleanliness of the rooms & bathroom could easily be improved with a little more maintainence (silicone sealant around bath, grouting of tiled bathroom floor, enamelled bath had rough edged chip, windows that were dirty). Food was somewhat lacking in quantity with relatively small portions. Fish (main course) had not been de-scaled properly leaving translucent outer scales on. Fortunately hotel prepared an alternative main course - though the chicken was overcooked and risotto dry. Breakfast was of reasonable quantity - but very, very salty. Hotel wifi would not connect ... staff said it was slow too.

Adequate for an overnight stop.

Liked: Old country house in need of a significant upgrade but we knew that when booking. Good location and nice walks along the river. Hope the new owner puts into practice the plans he has told the staff he intends to do.
Disliked: Breakfast rather basic unless you want the full English (we are vegetarian). Prices for evening meals and at the bar were on the high side.

Disliked: Booked dinner @ hotel which was lovely but most courses had a supplement charge on top of the 2 or 3 course set price but it was lovely food
