Lovely historic building

Liked: The hotel is a beautiful historic building just outside of Dumfries which was a great location for us.The breakfast was nice and we enjoyed playing snooker and relaxing in the communal areas.The staff were very helpful.
Disliked: We struggled to sleep the first night due to noise from the room above. We later realised that we were beneath the staff quarters. It sounded like furniture being moved during the night, with lots of doors slamming.We didn't know prior that it's a pet friendly hotel, and the two dogs in the next room howled and barked when they were left alone (which isn't the fault of the hotel at all).We didn't eat dinner at the hotel because it was a set menu which didn't suit our picky family members, but it's not far to travel into Dumfries where there are lots of bars and restaurants.

Liked: Staff were lovely it was clean but room was really noisy could here everything from neighbouring rooms. Place needs some cosmetic work doing

Liked: Warm welcome from Ben, great breakfast, lovely peaceful location and the look of the hotel downstairs was fatastic. We loved its traditional and authentic atmosphere of the hotel.
