Charming Pub Stay in the Heart of London

Modern comfort meets historic charm at the Fox and Anchor, a boutique pub-style hotel located in the lively heart of London. With its blend of traditional features and contemporary touches, this stylish spot offers a cozy, atmospheric base just minutes from iconic landmarks like St Paul’s Cathedral and some of the city’s best-known live music venues. With free WiFi, air-conditioned rooms, and a well-loved restaurant and bar, it’s an ideal choice for anyone making a night of it in the capital.

Why Concert-goers love it

The location is a serious win — within walking distance to multiple tube stations for easy late-night transport, and close to venues like the Barbican and Old Street clubs. Despite its central setting, the hotel keeps things peaceful with soundproofed, air-conditioned rooms, perfect for winding down post-show. A flexible 2:00 PM check-in gives you time to settle in before heading out, and the 11:00 AM check-out lets you sleep in after a late night.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends who want a lively local pub downstairs
  • Solo travelers catching a once-in-a-lifetime gig
  • Couples planning a romantic concert weekend
  • Fans seeking a quiet retreat after the encore
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want style and character

Food and Drink Options

The on-site pub and restaurant serves up hearty British fare and a great selection of craft beers — ideal for pre-gig dinners or post-show snacks. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the hotel’s central location means you’re surrounded by walkable late-night eateries. Breakfast is available, even if you’re not up early.

Nightlife Options

Being a classic London pub, the Fox and Anchor comes with its own vibrant bar scene. Step outside and you’re in easy reach of Shoreditch’s buzzing nightlife, with everything from indie music clubs to rooftop cocktail lounges just a few stops away.

What People Say

Guests rave about the “comfortable, stylish rooms” and “great character with a real London vibe.” Many love the “friendly, helpful staff” and highlight the “excellent location for exploring the city on foot.” The pub downstairs gets consistent praise for food, drink, and atmosphere.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms above a pub mean some minor street noise, especially on weekends — though many guests say it adds to the charm. No on-site gym or spa, but you’re unlikely to miss it with the city’s energy right outside your door.

The Bottom Line

A character-filled stay minutes from iconic venues, the Fox and Anchor blends pub culture with boutique comfort — ideal for music lovers making a night of it in London.

Spacious, quiet, and comfortable with...

Liked: We had a great stay at the Fox & Anchor during a warm summer visit to London. The room was surprisingly spacious and very well-appointed, with excellent accessibility and a large, comfortable bathroom. Despite the lively pub downstairs, we were pleasantly surprised by how quiet the room was—perfect for a good night’s sleep. The air conditioning was a real highlight, especially given the heat during our stay. It kept the room cool and comfortable throughout, which made a big difference after long days exploring the city. The only downside was the WiFi. Unfortunately, it was patchy at best and often dropped out completely. Coming from Australia, we had hoped to rely on the hotel WiFi rather than burning through international data, so this was a bit disappointing. That said, the overall experience was very positive, and we'd still recommend the Fox & Anchor for its charm, comfort, and location - just be prepared with your own data plan if you need reliable internet.
Disliked: The Wifi, or lack there of. Expect to use your phone data.

Overall pleasant and lovely room...

Liked: The room was lovely, super comfortable bed with clean white sheetsOverall clean with towels replaced dailyTv with a wide variety of channelsA big bathtub in front of the window which gave the room an elegant feel
Disliked: We found a bottle of ice tea underneath the bed from previous customersThe shower leaked a lot out onto the bathroom floor despite the shower door being shutThe tv remote did not work properlyWe didn’t get daily top ups of water, coffee, milk or sugar so had to go downstairs into the pub to request someThe lid for the kettle didn’t work so we had to balance a teacup on top of it so that the water would boilThe air conditioning was very loud and had quite a bad smellThe cold tap for the bathroom sink came off in our hands multiple times just from turning it on

Great pub as an alternative...

Liked: Rooms were quirky and very comfortable. Great location and close to the underground
Disliked: The stairs are very steep and the bar was quite dark when you walked in. Took a little time for your eyes to adjust

Comfortable and quiet room above...

Liked: Very well appointed room above a busy pub in Farringdon but very quiet and comfortable which was a nice surprise. Separate bathroom with roll top bath was lovely and staff were helpful on check and out.
Disliked: Nothing really. The room was even better than I expected.
