Comfortable, good location.
Liked: I’ve always loved staying at Marriott hotels, and this visit was no different in terms of comfort and convenience. The room was lovely, the location was ideal, and I actually enjoyed the walk to Central Station—it made for a great bit of daily exercise. Being close to restaurants and convenience stores was a bonus. One particular highlight was the staff's thoughtfulness during check-in. I mentioned that I had a 1 PM Zoom call and was happy to take it from their business center if the room wasn’t ready yet. Instead, the front desk staff kindly arranged for early check-in so I could settle in before the call. That small gesture made a big difference and really set the tone for the stay.
Disliked: On our first night after checking in, we went shopping at Coles to pick up some treats we wanted to bring home as gifts. The following day, we were out for the entire day and had requested housekeeping. When we returned, we noticed that some of our snacks had clearly been taken. It was undeniable—there were five cookies when we left, and only three remained. Along with that, two packs of Tim Tams, a pack of gummies, and a KitKat were also missing.I reported the incident to the manager on duty and approached the situation calmly. I even said, “It’s not a huge dent on my bank account, but still—someone took our things.” What truly unsettled me was not just the theft itself, but the violation of trust. It made me wonder: What else might this person have done? Did they tamper with our toothbrushes? Lick the remaining cookies?The manager acknowledged my report and said further investigation was needed. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but after that initial conversation, I never heard from her again—not even a courtesy follow-up before we checked out. No offer to move us to another room, no gesture of reassurance, and definitely no compensation.I started to feel paranoid and unsafe in the room. Was it too much to ask for a room transfer so that whoever did this wouldn’t know where we were staying? Was being nice a mistake? I had to request housekeeping to be restricted after that. I don’t regret being kind—in fact, on our last day, I left a pack of Tim Tams and a KitKat addressed to Cinthia, the manager, with a note to give them to whoever cleaned our room on April 17. I could’ve left a cash tip, but sadly, the service showed me that it was worth only as much as a Tim Tam and a KitKat.Guests can make demands, yes—but in hospitality, the heart of the service is ensuring guests feel safe, cared for, and respected. I had high hopes for Marriott hotels. I chose them for the reputation, the standard of care I thought they upheld.

Perfect weekend staycation
Liked: I would never have thought to stay in that location, but we chose it for the locality. Very close to restaurants, cafes etc. and a lovely park downstairs.
