Felt dismissed for the exorbitant...

Disliked: Room: was given room in attic of outbuilding 50 meters from main lodging. Although the property was essentially empty, the staff put us in a room with sit down only shower, lumpy twin beds, a tv with cable which kept falling out, no closet and very small, maybe 40 square feet, of standing room. I did choose the cheapest option on booking but as even the entire outbuildings 4 ground floor rooms, with regular height ceilings, baths and queen/ king beds was unoccupied I would have thought a conscientious staff would upgrade a mid 60s age couple into at least one of those rooms, which I can imagine even the help prefers to clean rather than stooping and crawling about. Beautiful main lobby, grounds and location though.

Disliked: I stayed in the hotel for 1 night, and booked the restaurant for the dinner. The hotel is good and the staff are very friendly. But why 1 start then? Because of the bad experience with the restaurant!First of all, I'd like to share I read the comments from this page, before going to the restaurant, and even though I read a lot of comments about overpricing, I gave the chance to try. I tried, and here is my experience.The menu has only 3 main courses (1 mussels, 1 meat and 1 vegetarian).I was in the restaurant together with a friend. My friend ordered the meat (56 pounds), and I ordered the vegetarian one (bitroot) (28 pounds).My friend asked the meat cooked as medium, it came raw. This is ok (not ok for that price, but still acceptable) it can happen and this is something the restaurant can still fix.But the bitroot I ordered was everything but a maincourse. It was s bitroot carpaccio! With few slices of a bitroot. C'mon, why do you serve this as a main course? This is a starter! If you want to increase the price from 28 to 38 or higher is fine, but serve a main course with these ingredients! Not a carpaccio! And please do mention im the menu, so the client can chose for another option instead!When the plate arrived I understood the reviews I saw, the reason the restaurant was empty, and the couple before us complaiming about the menu and leaving the restaurant without ordering after seeing the menu, they are pritty much correct!Looking to the way the food is arraged in the plate, and the quality of the food, it seems the cheff is unexperienced. We see he/she is trying to do his/her best.. but there are so much still to improve. So much could be better to make this place a good and reference place! The quantity and the quality! The people are friendly and we see they are willing to give their best! But it's clear the lack of experience (for the waiter and especially in the kitchen!

Liked: When at the edge of the world on Skye, I can't think of a better place to stay. The location is incredible and gave us easy access to the main hikes we wanted to do. Friendly staff and lovely rooms.
Disliked: I think close to 20 pounds for a single serve Prosecco was a bit much.
