A touch of affordable luxury

Liked: Lovely building in glorious countryside so the views were beautiful. Nice staff, comfy bed with high quality bedlinen, well laid-out, very clean bathroom. Breakfast offered a wide choice and tasted great, and is served in a beautiful room.
Disliked: Only thing that could have been better was the modern pop music played in the breakfast room. Classical, eg, Vivaldi's Spring, or Pachelbel's Canon, would make the experience excellent.

Liked: Super friendly and accommodating staff, great location
Disliked: This will be our 4th visit in the past 6 years and a go to for us. It just seems like not much has changed in decoration and facilities, a lot of the common areas seemed a little tired and would benefit from fresh decoration/paint and new carpets. The breakfast seemed quite small in selection and a little off putting with extra charges were required for some items. On previous visits the buffet side of breakfast seemed to have more selection and more quantities, but maybe the hotel was not full enough to warrant that.Attention to detail, in the garden we sat at dirty tables with two day old cigarettes in the morningThe cleaning staff were super friendly and accommodating, yet maybe they are stretched? It won't stop us from considering it in the future , it's just a little sad it seems to have gone downhill and lost its status and sparkle

Liked: Real compact luxury! Rooms were huge and immaculate. Reception and housekeeping staff very professional and pleasant.
Disliked: Bit confusing about the eating arrangements, there is no separate bistro, and this isn't clear. That's a bit of a cheek.
