Disappointing, overpriced, weak shower. Fair...

Liked: The breakfast staff were lovely. The bed was enormous and comfortable. The area was pretty.
Disliked: I really wanted to like this place! The reviews were so promising - especially the comment about the showers being 'the biggest in Europe!' The room was over priced for what it was; there were stains on the carpet and the walls; the bedding was lumpy and the duvet was severely tightly folded into the foot of the bed; the room was hot, even though the radiators weren't on. The shower was a weak dribble that couldn't be directed to the centre of the shower cubicle. It's advertised as a boutique and spa hotel but you have to book and pay extra for the spa / sauna / hot tub etc. No one in reception for 10 minutes when I arrived; no bell to alert them that people might be waiting. Keys, not cards for the doors. Sounds carried in the hallways.

Horrible glad to get home...

Liked: Breakfast OK , Lunch - when asked for something on the menu it was oh sorry typing error we don't have that , people had booked in for afternoon tea then told when they arrived sorry we are not doing that today don't have the stuff to do it, no apology , Room bedlinen looked like someone has slept in the bed all creased and smelt
Disliked: Since my last visit and the place has been taken over the cleanliness has dropped, hardly any staff, the Spa looks like a run down shack in the garden, hob tub water looked unclean, gardens upkept weeds dead plants rusty old lanterns outside the Spa no staff in staff all from a Temping Agency. The whole place is run down . My bedlinen smelt unwashed very creased like someone had already slept in it

Liked: Large room and bed. Decent view of countryside.
Disliked: Tea stains on carpet.Dust on blinds and radiators. My choice of starter and main course unavailable, but not told until ordered drinks. Needed a bit of TLC. Had to pay extra to use steam / sauna/ jacuzzi.

A lovely stay in a...

Liked: The hotel is a beautiful manor which is well decorated. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The location is superb, with stunning views of the countryside. The breakfast was well cooked and the dining room was well presented, with lovely morning sunshine a bonus. We had a back massage which was very good.
Disliked: Just missed the use of the hot tub, as it was out of order.
