Great location and ideal for...
Liked: Friendly staff and efficient booking system. Lovely view from our room. Comfortable room and bed.
Disliked: Our room was exceedingly hot. Bathroom bit tired and could do with updating. Breakfast ok for the money but sausage quality poor. Fried egg overdone.

Pleasant
Liked: Fantastic location
Disliked: Bathroom in dire need of a refurbishment. There was a light outside the door that went out to the flat roof. This light was on all night. No curtains on this door so whole room illuminated. Couldn’t find a switch that turned it off. Could only get BBC 1 on the tv. Spoke to receptionist who said she didn’t know how to sort it out but would come up but never did. Breakfast very poor. There were no pastries at the continental section. They twice brought out 3 at a time and obviously they were taken straight away. Had to ask for bread for toast as this was not replenished. The orange juice dispenser was down to the last dregs and refilled. There appeared to be just one waitress working and it was very busy. No hash browns as they had run out.

Fisherman's Cot pay
Liked: Situation very pleasant by the river.
Disliked: Creaky floorboards in corridor. Scruffy woodwork in accommodation areas but could be part of the properties character.

Very poor
Liked: Location and view from bedroom window.
Disliked: The bathroom was too small and not clean.the breakfast was awful, the continental breakfast was instant porridge, instant coffee, the juice was watered down, only one croissant left and no jam. Worst breakfast ever. The evening meal just as bad,we had to remind the waitress to wipe the table, they never asked if everything was OK,didn't ask if we wanted a dessert, took ages to get a second drink. There were customers outside smoking directly in front of a no smoking sign and dog ends on the floor. I would certainly no recommend anyone staying there. l

We enjoyed our stay at...
Liked: We loved the surroundings. The Fishermans Cot is located right next to the old Bickleigh Bridge and weir which spans the River Exe. It is an an idyllic location nestled in a beautiful steep wooded valley with plenty of walking opportunities. Bickleigh village, the mill, and the castle are all within walking distance. Take care when walking as the main road and bridge are both narrow in places and can be busy with traffic. There is plenty of parking available and there are frequent bus services into Tiverton and Exeter from the bus stop outside. For our main meals, we opted for the carvery. The food was of good quality with generous portion sizes. We had the option of eating either inside or outdoors. It was an enjoyable dining experience.
Disliked: We had a twin room with ensuite. The facilities were good and we had a nice view of the river from the window. The only downside is that the ceiling in places was sloped, particularly over the beds and also the en-suite toilet which meant when we stood or sat up, we frequently ended up knocking our heads.

Suited the reason we were...
Liked: Dark which made it look unclean
Disliked: We had the artic room with sloping ceilings and at 6ft it made it difficult for me to move round the room. Sloping ceilings in the bathroom meant I could only use the first ft of the shower possibly the worst shower I’ve ever used.

Adequate if attending The Leaping...
Liked: Ideal accommodation near The Leaping Trout with a pictureque river running along the pub; comfortable bed.
Disliked: Abysmal breakfast; no croissants resulting in a 20 minute wait for 6 to be added to the basket, inadequate hot drink facilities and one member of staff on shift resulting in unacceptable delays - we left and went elsewhere, AVOID. No hot water on Sunday morning (& no staff on-site to remedy); poor room refreshments.
