A good stay in downtown...

Disliked: Do not stay here if you have a car—it’s not worth it. This property does not offer any parking. The cheapest nearby option is St. David’s Garage, which charges $30 for just 12 hours. Other parking options are even more expensive.Right after I made the booking, I realized this issue and immediately called the hostel to cancel. However, they told me, “We can’t do anything because the manager is not here. Please send him an email.” So I did—but I never got a response. I made the call less than 10 minutes after booking, but even after two days, the manager still hasn’t gotten back to me.On top of that, the hostel is extremely loud because it has a nightclub inside. The music goes on until 2 a.m., making it very hard to sleep.

I enjoyed the old charm...

Liked: I was impressed that the old firehouse in late 1900s is converted to a hostel - kind of authentic as a hostel ーIt adds a touch of charm to the old atmosphere of Austin. The sturdy old wooden bunk beds, probably used by old firefighters, are particularly comfortable and have a unique charm that is not found in the simple pipe bunk beds in other dome rooms. I also particularly liked the wooden doors on the bathroom booths, which are rare these days. There's also a nice hidden bar behind the bookshelf near the entrance, but I didn't drink so I couldn't use itー
Disliked: I stayed only two days and wanted to find good touring spots as possible, but I missed most of it because the lady at the front desk never wished to provide any suggestion for very restricted stayer, and later I realized I should have just signed up to the 'guided audio tour of ghost tour of Austin around this neighborhood starting in the old Mayor's mantion on this street, I really regret that! I only visited the State capitol within limited time. I wish the staff person to be more informative
