Exceptional

Liked: Lovely building. Great breakfast. Staff extremely helpful. We ate in the restaurant in the evening too and the food was excellent.

Convenient Hotel in the heart...

Liked: The location was great for what we needed.
Disliked: The inflexibility when it came to the breakfast. We had to leave at 7 am - the cooked breakfast you order starts at 7:15, the pastry buffet is ready to go by this point. An offer of a small packed breakfast of a couple of pastries would have been a nice especially since breakfast is included in the price.

Disappointing

Liked: Charming hotel, lovely decor, comfortable room, and lovely setting and location. The cooked breakfast was excellent, and I had a pleasant evening meal with a beer after my arrival the previous day.
Disliked: A protruding sharp small screw around the doorknob caused a cut on my right index finger and drew blood. Though it was not a serious cut, it was unpleasant. However, I was concerned that cleaners and future guests might also be caught out unawares with the same issue. I reported it immediately and would have expected some immediate action even if, clearly, I was going to be careful from then on about opening the door. It was just an overnight stay. By checkout the next morning, no action had been taken. The female duty manager to whom I had reported the incident, made no enquiry at checkout about my wellbeing and there was none of the usual exchange of pleasantries that one might expect on departure. Moreover, said duty manager, who had also been taking breakfast orders and serving, seemed to disappear after serving the excellent eggs royale, and I had no opportunity to ask for toast. When she did appear, she barely looked my way but by then it was time to leave. Perhaps she was preoccupied or overworked? But there were only a handful of guests. At any rate, putting both incidents together, I concluded that her demeanour was disappointing, which sadly impacted on my overall impression of what was otherwise a pleasant stay.
