Caitlyn, Bettendorf, visiting Wrigley Field
Overall the stay was well. The staff were really nice. But the walls were really thin so hearing the couple next door was slightly awkward. Also the room didn't get very cool - we had the thermostat as low as possible.

Descent
Liked: The location.
Disliked: I didn’t like when they tried changing me for drinking a beer. when we didn’t even drink anything from their fridge. I think their fridge has a sensor and it detected when my husband put his energy drink in the fridge.

It was ok, kind of...
Liked: It was luxurious, quiet pricy. They do have a bar on site. Otherwise all others were ok.
Disliked: The AC unit was lacking. We couldn’t sleep bc the AC temp was not as expected. I woke up multiple times due to it so hot. We were in the 30th floor so it was pretty hot there. We did get excellent views, otherwise the only convenient thing for me and my small group was the beds and coffee. There was no microwave and no fridge. The only fridge was the “refreshment” packed with alcohol and sparkling water.

I tried to not let...
Liked: Location is great.
Disliked: The front desk check-in experience on June 5, 2025, was shockingly poor. I arrived around noon and declined the $50 early check-in option and the offer to join a membership program. I then provided my credit card for incidentals, only to be met with a surprise $400 hold. When I asked about the charge, the staff member said it was “around $150 per night” for incidentals. After all that, I simply asked for an update on my check-in status. Instead of a professional response, I was met with hostility: “Could you stop talking and let me explain to you? You refused the early check-in. You refused the membership. So, you don’t get preferential treatment.” I was told I’d be notified if the room was ready before 4 PM — unsurprisingly, no alert ever came. When I returned at 6:30 PM, a different staff member was polite but couldn’t easily confirm the $400 charge already on file. It took time to resolve. For reference: Room 1221, three-night stay. I hope Fairmont management tracks down the employee who interacted with me at noon — her behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable.Management should consider recording check-in conversations to monitor staff conduct. I’ve never experienced such rudeness at any hotel. #CustomerServiceFail #FairmontHotels #HospitalityMatters #TravelExperience #HotelReview

Mid. Benjamin deserves a raise.
Liked: Benjamin and all the luggage/concierge folks were super helpful and friendly. Also it’s pet friendly (for a substantial fee).
Disliked: Expensive for what we got, room was kind of run down, the coffee mugs were rigged with a sensor in the mini bar?? front desk gave us a different final price every time we asked.
