Felt duped and misinformed!

Liked: Bed was comfortable and room was clean.
Disliked: Booked room 2 hours prior check-in. Upon arrival was told there was a mandatory "boil water alert" placed by the County so water was undrinkable, no coffee would be served and showers could be risky. Even though the alert was issued hours before I made my reservation neither Booking.com nor Fairfield Inn and Suites mentioned this on their websites. I could have traveled 25 minutes to another town where this wasn't an issue and the water was safe. I was told at check-in that the hotel could sell me water. Absolutely no accommodations were being offered to guests including a discount or refund. I contacted hotels in the same location and was told they were providing water free of charge to their guests. I recognize the water issue was not in the hotel's control but believe the hotel could have handled the situation better. Had I known of the water issue I would not have booked this hotel.
