Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel is a short Uber or Lyft ride from major music venues like the T-Mobile Center and the Power & Light District, so you won’t miss a beat. Being located just off Main Street means you’re close to the action but still in a quieter neighborhood for a more relaxing post-show wind-down. With a 12:00 PM checkout, you can sleep in after a late night. Plus, access to public transport and quick rideshare options make late returns hassle-free.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends heading out for a gig will appreciate the pool and shared spaces.
Solo travelers can feel safe and comfortable in this well-maintained property.
Couples will find a cozy, peaceful vibe for a weekend escape around their favorite show.
Fans needing rest after the encore will love the quiet rooms and proximity to Penn Valley Park.
Budget-conscious music lovers will enjoy the free breakfast and strong value for the location.

Food and Drink Options

Start your day strong (or recover from the night before) with the free daily breakfast buffet served at the hotel. While there’s no on-site restaurant or bar, you’re within walking distance of several casual eateries and late-night bites along Main Street. For more options, hop over to nearby Westport or the Crossroads Arts District.

Nightlife Options

You won’t find a live music lounge in the hotel itself, but you’re only minutes from some of Kansas City’s best nightlife. From rooftop bars to craft beer spots and live jazz clubs, everything’s a short ride away. After the show, wind down at one of the laid-back bars nearby or head back to enjoy a quiet evening at the hotel.

What People Say

Guests love the friendly service, clean rooms, and the convenient location that’s close—but not too close—to downtown. Many say it’s great value for money, especially with the free breakfast and Wi-Fi. Travelers also appreciate the ample parking and easy access to major roads.

Areas for Improvement

Some reviewers mention that the hotel isn’t ultra-modern, and while everything is clean and comfortable, a few areas could use a refresh. There’s no bar or restaurant on-site, so food options are limited unless you venture out. But that’s easy enough with everything so close by.

The Bottom Line

If you’re coming to Kansas City for the music, the Fairfield Inn by Marriott Kansas City Downtown/Union Hill offers a practical, well-located, and affordable place to rest between sets.

Over the summer I have stayed in 5 different Kansas City hotels in this price point: $90-185 per night. I had gambled picking Fairfield because the other 4 had been a bust! When checking in I was a little nervous that the same thing was going to happen when my reservation wasn't found right off. Katlin handled all very well. Was very nice and offered us great local advice on food and the surroundings. The room was clean and cozy. Bathrooms were clean. They even had a makeup remover available with the shampoo/conditioner. There was a fridge and microwave in the room. Breakfast was good and included - it was hot! Whole grain breads and fresh fruit. Cereal and hot waffle irons with self serve waffle batter. The breakfast staff lady was wonderful, polite and very helpful. Katlin was there again in the morning and made sure our checkout went well. Thank you! This will be our usual stop for KC!

Liked: Clean. The staff. Katlin (hope spelled correct) was great at finding my possibly lost reservation. Handled everything calm and cool. The morning staff were pleasant. Breakfast lady was there from 5a.m.! You were sweet and wonderful!
Disliked: The windows in the room only cracked a little so the fresh air was limited - guess that's a security measure though.
