Anne, visiting Orbit Room Grand Rapids Thu, 13 October 2016
After reading the reviews I was a bit nervous about staying here. People were saying it was noisy, dirty, etc. - not the case. Room was very clean and quiet on the 3rd floor. Hallway and elevator had a strong smell but it wasn't in the room. There weren't many TV channels but it was fine since we only stayed for a night. Good room for a cheap price.
Liked: Clean room.
Disliked: Smell in hallway and elevator. Not many TV channels.

Very nice stay. Room was clean and we were very satisfied. Staff was very pleasant. We didn't think the beds were too comfy, but they were manageable.
Liked: Loved the kitchen.
Disliked: Beds were not comfy.

Liked: Good location
Disliked: Staff were hard to find. Security door was kept propped open by patron because swipe mechanism didn't work. No curtain liners or sheets, so we couldn't get outdoor light without full exposure.

I WILL NEVER STAY HERE...
Liked: The first room I was place in had vomit, yes vomit, along the side of the bed...and it was still wet, as in fresh. I should have packed up and left but I had already brought in luggage and was staying for three nights. I went downstairs and requested a new room and please, not one cleaned by the same staff person who missed the vomit. The new room was acceptable and the staff apologized profusely and said my bill would be adjusted. The next day, before I left for the day, I went down to the front desk to request that my room not be cleaned by staff as I just didn't want anyone in my room. It took far too long for the person "working" to look up from her phone to acknowledge my presence. When I told her no cleaning please and no towels, I was informed that rooms are only cleaned weekly. Wait, what? What hotel only cleans once a week? Is this a welfare motel? I got no response which told me that yes, people in transition were being placed in this hotel. Imagine my "surprise" when I got home around dinner time and saw two separate people barbecuing dinner out back. I should have packed up and left then. I honestly can't say why I stayed. When I did check out, my bill was NOT adjusted. No, I will NEVER return this hotel.

Liked: The recliner in the room, and it was nice to have a refrigerator
Disliked: The lighting in the hallway to our room was very dim. When we exited the elevator there was a loud argument happening in a room we had to pass. I realize this is not the establishment's fault, but it set an uneasy tone for us, the dim lighting contributing to this. The room was clean enough, but you have to request any amenities, like a coffeemaker, which are usually standard. The"grab & go" breakfast was sub par.
