Liked: There are only 2 motels in Hartselle. This one is very close to my Dad's.Room was OK. Pretty clean and very minimalist. Not sure if that's a pro or con.
Disliked: 1. You can't make a reservation by phone. My dad wanted to make a reservation and pay for it by phone. He called and was told you can only make a reservation online and he's not tech savvy. I was kind of surprised you couldn't book direct and had to use booking.com (or apparently some other sites as well). I personally don't trust that so I prepaid using paypal.2. When I arrived the younger Indian guy that works/owns(?) the place asked my which site I booked through when I told him i prepaid. Shouldn't he been able to look that up??3. While the TV worked, the tint was messed up. Resetting the TV settings didn't really help.4. Water pressure is a little lacking. Like R Kelly peeing on you after his prostate started acting up restricting the flow.5. No amenities or breakfast offered.6. The last point is probably my biggest issue. See the pics I attached. Under the ice bucket was a half smoked cigarette (yes, it was tobacco) and a lighter. Very odd. And it had been there for a while because the lighter didn't light anymore so that means the lighter fluid dried up. Now, I had no intention of using the ice machine there, but something urged me on to pick up the ice bucket to find this treasure. I can only imagine that a prior guest left it but since the ice bucket bag wasn't disturbed, the cleaning person didn't bother to move anything.The next morning I took the entire tray to the front window (you're not allowed in the inside lobby anymore (I've stayed there a few times in the past and had an indoor lobby and a breakfast area) and showed the 'manager'.Most hospitality businesses would it least offer something like a small discount, but, no, no such offer or an apology for that matter. The only thing he asked if I wanted my room cleaned again right away (I was staying 2 nights and getting it cleaned again immediately wasn't going to make the room any cleaner).
