Nice motel, nice people, clean...

Elegant hotel, with limitations of...
Liked: A fascinating older luxury hotel, with pictures of the numerous world figures who have stayed: Churchill, Roosevelt, Rockefeller, etc. The maintenance of the history and the decor was very good.
Disliked: The bar is only open Thurs-Sunday. Thus the elegant sitting room was empty at 2000h.Many hotels authorize the desk clerk to serve drinks. Why not Eureka Inn?The front desk has Covid plastic barriers, greatly detracting from the overall ambience. Covid ceased to be a health threat when the virus mutated into a weaker form that cannot attack the lungs. The clerk explained ' we have had homeless approach us". I fail to see the problem. Also the breakfast was less than most chains: no waffle machine, no scrambled eggs etc.

Historical but needs to be...
Liked: The architecture and the history of the Inn was neat to see and the front desk person was very nice. I did request for one of the rooms to have something special done to it but nothing was and there was not. There was not even communication back saying they could or couldn’t do it.
Disliked: The dining room has been closed since COVID and hasn’t opened back up yet. The breakfast was okay but the “Starbucks” in the description was deceiving because it was just a carafe from hotel labeled Starbucks. The room was poorly lit and the cover for the inside key panel was broken and had exposed wire. There were no charging ports next to bed. There was an empty bottle of body wash in the shower… I asked the person behind the counter and they handed me a bar of hand soap and told me they didn’t have anymore liquid body wash.

A nice surprise
Liked: We booked this last minute and we're completely surprised by how wonderful it was. A beautiful classic hotel. It still needs some work, but you can tell that it is happening. Breakfast was good, the room was comfortable.
Disliked: We wish the cafe had been open.

We left early!
Liked: The girl on reception was quite helpful
Disliked: The hotel and rooms looked as though they hadn't been decorated since the '40s. Everywhere was dingy and dark. The room was dirty. The breakfast was awful, plastic cutlery and paper plates and cups, nothing cooked. We left early!!
