A hinden gem with a...

Liked: This is a tired hidden gem but with a new life just around the corner it will close in November and reopen in 2026 following a revamp. The food was exceptional last night looking forward to breakfast shortly. Great location for walking with the dog. It is located between Morpeth and Alnwick just off the A1. The staff were friendly and very helpful I hope that during the refurbishment they can use the staff and not lose them as that would be a great mistake
Disliked: I appreciate we need to pay an additional sum for the dog but didn’t expect to find dirt and marked carpets

Liked: We stayed in stable east cottage Beautiful view and we saw a deer from the kitchen window the hotel was beautiful and we had a nice meal
Disliked: Just one little thingThe kettle is so small for a place that can accommodate 6 even for 5 we had to boil twice

Disliked: A shame it seems many of the hospitable staff are leaving with new owners

Very nice stop off point...

Liked: Friendly staff. Warm welcome even when arriving late. Staff at breakfast also very good an Gluten free bread also available. Room was adaquate but small bathroom. Bed mattress not that firm although that might vary room to room. We were in room called Lily in the grange building.
Disliked: No bar open at 2215 when we arrived for drink!

Superb

Liked: The ability to take your dog into the main hall, so you can eat or have a drink whilst sitting in the comfy surroundings.Friendly and polite staff.
Disliked: Food was a touch expensive for what it was.The room was a bit plain , could have used a picture or two.And a small thing but no coasters.
