Terrible experience – felt unsafe...

Disliked: We had an awful experience at the Equinox Hotel on the Gold Coast. Originally planning to stay for a week, we left after just one night due to how unsafe and run-down the place felt.Despite booking an ocean-view room, we were given one that faced the back of the hotel. The apartment itself was in a shocking state—chips and scratches throughout, unclean cutlery, and overall poor hygiene. The bathroom door was falling off its sliding rails, there were bug larvae in the dishwasher, and insects could be seen inside the ceiling light covers. It was clear that maintenance and cleanliness were not a priority.The overall atmosphere of the hotel was unsettling. Shopping trolleys were left in the hallways, and we heard people yelling obscenities throughout the night. Only one elevator was operational, meaning long wait times, and on occasion, we had to resort to the stairs due to its unreliability. This is not a family-friendly place, and we did not feel safe staying there. Additionally, the location felt isolated from the rest of Surfers Paradise.After our one-night stay, we requested a refund, but staff refused. Fortunately, Booking.com stepped in to resolve the issue.I do not recommend staying at the Equinox Hotel.
