I won?t be going back.

Liked: The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
Disliked: The room faced a street where drag racing took place all night, starting around 10pm. At 2:30 a.m., we couldn?t take it anymore and asked for a room that did not face the street. We were given a new room and we changed rooms at 3:00a.m. It was much quieter after the change, but by that time, and after a long drive to get there, our rest was broken and we never recovered from it. I asked to get the general manager?s name so I could express my frustration, but the gentleman at the desk said they didn?t have a general manager at the time and that I could speak to the daytime desk clerk when he came in. I?ve worked in fine hotels, and I have never heard of a hotel without a general manager. I know the hotel can?t control what goes on outside in the street; however, they do know about the drag racing, as evidenced by the night clerk?s response when I complained about it. I wanted them to know that with only 50% occupancy that weekend (I know because I asked), they should have placed us away from the street in the first place or at least warned us of this weekend drag racing ritual of the locals. The food in the ?award winning? restaurant was not worth any of the hype or the price. We liked the convenience of having a restaurant in-house, but after eating there once, we refused to spend any more money for food that was just edible. The lounge on the roof was crowded with unmasked people and was understaffed and dirty. There were no bellmen to help with our baggage when checking in or out. The valet parking was confusing, as the valet seemed to be working for this hotel and the one next door. We were not sure who we were trusting our car to. I?ve visited Birmingham multiple times per year for many years, and I chose this hotel because of its proximity to a specific venue. I will not choose this place again. It doesn?t deserve 4 diamonds at all.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Liked: We loved the decor in the room, as well as the lobby. The beds were comfortable. The staff was very helpful and friendly throughout our short stay. We ended up driving to a restaurant, so we didn't walk around the immediate area.
Disliked: There was some construction so it was a bit hard to valet park, but it wasn't a big deal. The staff had our car there quickly.
