It was good, clean and...

Liked: The location. Not far from pier or town. The beach is right across the road!The people who work there were very polite, friendly and helpful.
Disliked: Continually disturbed by pigeons above me! Mainly at night.The only cooked item on breakfast is egg, but a choice of ways it’s cooked. The table in the room is tilted and not safe for the tea tray and kettle. Seems like an old style computer table.

Do not underestimate the bad...

Liked: The staff were passably polite. Its right on the sea front so its got nice views from the front.
Disliked: The building itself is dilapidated at best. Starting from the beginning, the front of the hotel is in desperate need of a re-fresh, the floors throughout are damaged with wobbly and uneven floorboards, the entire building is tired and doesn't appear ro have seen any maintenance for 20 years, the stairs carpet is hanging off in places with the nail strips completely exposed, there is dust dirt and litter in the stairwell and some questionable stains on the carpets throughout. I wouldn't recommend touching the bannisters unless you enjoy splinters, and the plug sockets in the hall were hanging half off the wall. The room unfortunately did not improve the situation, the beds would have been wonderful in the 90's unfortunately I think that's when they were purchased. The mattresses and divan bases are sagging in the middle, and the divan bases are dirty. The sheets were clean with no sign of bed bugs however the decorative throw blankets are not washed regularly, I asked at reception, as one of the throw blankets had what appeared to be gentleman's bodily fluid on them. The furniture has broken handles, and the drawers looked like they may come off the runners, so we did not touch them. The windows were thick with dust on the inside and dirt and excrement on the outside and had thin curtains that didn't cover the entire width of the windows. Light was streaming in all night, and I was concerned the stairwell of the opposite hotel could see clearly into the room. The bathroom had been wiped down however as soon as the shower was switched on dirt and grime came out the shower head, the shower nobs are broken and it was a struggle to get the water to come out the top only. The mirror frame was also dirty and damaged along with peeling sides and exposed screws on the sink surround with cracked tiles.
