Tranquil, immersive village experience in...
Liked: El Monte Sagrado is a stunningly beautiful retreat that seamlessly blends nature with architecture, creating a truly immersive sensory experience. We stayed in one of their two-bedroom Adobe cottages, which was tastefully decorated with Japanese-inspired artistic touches and featured a private fenced patio—perfect for relaxing in privacy. The on-site restaurant and room service were exceptional. Standout dishes included the chile relleno and blue corn tacos, both of which were absolutely delicious. The complimentary shuttle service to Taos Pueblo and other local destinations was a great convenience. Our valet, Brian, went above and beyond—offering excellent local dining recommendations and even calling ahead to the Pueblo to confirm it was open. He also kindly took us to a nearby shop so I could purchase a swimsuit for a dip in the hotel’s saltwater pool. The spa experience was delightful. My husband and I enjoyed massages, though we were disappointed to learn—after our treatments—that access to the steam and dry saunas was included. It would have been wonderful to take advantage of those amenities had we been informed beforehand. While the property has undeniable charm, it’s clear that parts of the facility are in need of maintenance. A fresh coat of paint and some thoughtful care could go a long way in restoring its full splendor. Some of the staff appeared inexperienced for a resort of this caliber, but they were consistently warm, friendly, and eager to help.Despite a few shortcomings, we’re already looking forward to returning—next time with our adult children. El Monte Sagrado is a uniquely elegant destination, ideal for adults seeking a rich, immersive, and tranquil escape.
Disliked: We loved our stay and hope to return again.

Liked: Serene and gorgeous property -- it felt exactly like I hoped Taos would feel. The room was a bit luxurious with a nice patio, and dog friendly too. Staff were all exceptionally welcoming and helpful. Marvelous cocktails at the Anaconda Bar. Prime location; walkable to downtown but still feels secluded and woodsy. Beautiful saltwater pool. Great value. This place gets everything right.

Liked: The room was tastefully decorated and felt like someone cared about the little details. The bathtub in the room was so comfortable and it was just an overall really relaxing stay. There was also a free shuttle to town.
