Superb

Liked: Excellent staff, great location, nice old fashioned hotel
Disliked: Toilet and shower outside of room but it wasn't a big deal.

No recommended

Liked: Location
Disliked: I think it's expensive. We had a two-bed room with an outside private bathroom. The room was very small , like a puzzle, with the beds facing each other. The windows didn't isolate the outside noise, in this case ventilation motors or we don't know what but we heard a lot of noise all the time. We couldn't sleep. The receptionist, a young woman, said to talk with booking because it was the reservation we had made. She had no interest in helping. This hotel is just expensive, it's not worth it.

Superb

Liked: Overall the staff w the likes of Rocky, knowledgeable and so were the rest of the staff were very hospitable. It was overall the staff that I really enjoyed and the service was great, 5 star for them. Thank you Rocky & the team.
Disliked: It would only be the price, but I believe due to location. However the value the staff possess overided it.

Not for a long stay...

Liked: Roberto at reception was most helpful. Location is great and the room was very clean. Some good cable TV, no HBO.
Disliked: We specified 6 months in advance that we were on honeymoon but were given a truly small room (were told by a lady at reception that "the best rooms" were "all already gone"). Our room would have been to small had we stayed every night (we ended up staying 2 nights with friends who got an Airbnb), as there is no way to store suitcases nor hang much. Some noise from the other rooms meant walls are not great and when we asked where to get a good breakfast we were sent the opposite direction of nicer and safer places. Value for money not best as the Marriott nearby was just 30/40 USD more expensive.

Exceptional

Liked: The staff waa really helpful and the location of the hotel is spot on. It's not far off the city centre and there is a lot of public transport in the area. Special mention to Rocky who was super helpful and friendly whilst we were on our trip.

Very friendly staff and nice...

Liked: Loved the soft towels, for the most part the reception staff were lovely and chatty and liked the upgraded bathroom and the fact that the outside door to the street was locked and only the guests could enter using a key or be buzzed in - good security. Nice heritage building. Sams Diner 4-5 blocks away up Market St on the way to town - great breakfast all 3 mornings!!
Disliked: A bit noisy from the street - not as bad on the 1st floor but my sister stayed on the 3rd floor and needed to move as the sound travelled a lot. The area of town was a little rough, a few homeless and drug deals going on but could catch the Muni buses, trams easily or walk to Union Square and downtown about 30 mins. Didn?t feel unsafe - just walk past and ignore

Very pricy for hôtel category

Liked: The staff at reception very helpful. SPECIAL thanks to Rocky. Also rooms are very clean.
Disliked: The size of our first room was very small with no private bath inside. We were moved to room 41 with double bed which was better but quite noicy. The room rate is extremely expensive for what it is. And there is no breakfast included. So makes your stay very expensive
