Exceptional

Liked: The owner and the staff are very kind. My room was comfortable, even though it was rather small. The building looks very typical. The place is well-connected to the city centre by bus. (It is also possible to walk.) The neighbourhood is quite nice and there are a few places for breakfast close by and many restaurants around.

Spotless accommodation that was quiet...

Liked: Traditional building but felt updated and contemporary
Disliked: I would have liked a bedside light or a switch for the overhead light near the bed.

Liked: Location is very central with just 15 min bus ride to Royal Mile. Staff were super friendly and hotel was spotless clean. Its a family establishment that feels like home.

Liked: Beautiful historic home. Quiet location within walking distance to the Royal Mile. Helpful and kind host.
Disliked: The upstairs west side room was very hot. I am always cold, so for me to say it was hot is a big one. Even with all the windows open and it being cold outside, the room would not cool. The owner provided a small fan, but there were no outlets near the windows to bring in cool air.
