The Spotlight on Edinburgh Holyrood Hotel

Elegant Comfort Steps from Edinburgh’s Historic Heart

Modern yet classic, the Edinburgh Holyrood Hotel blends upscale comfort with historic charm, just a stone’s throw from Holyrood Park and a short walk to many of Edinburgh’s most iconic music venues and landmarks. With spacious rooms, a full-service spa, and an award-winning restaurant, this four-star hotel offers a relaxing retreat in the heart of the city—ideal for concert-goers who want to experience the buzz without compromising on comfort.

Each room includes a marble bathroom, satellite TV, tea and coffee facilities, and complimentary mineral water. The hotel’s Health and Wellbeing Club features a gym, sauna, and indoor pool, perfect for unwinding after a high-energy night out.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is key, and the Edinburgh Holyrood Hotel delivers—just a 15-minute stroll from bustling Princes Street and close to several of the city’s most popular live music venues. After the encore, return to a peaceful setting near Holyrood Park, away from the late-night noise of city center bars. Flexible check-in from 15:00 and a generous check-out time of 12:00 mean you won’t feel rushed the morning after.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a central, stylish base
  • Solo travelers catching a must-see gig
  • Couples making a weekend of music and sightseeing
  • Fans who value a restful night after the show
  • Budget-conscious travelers seeking value without sacrificing quality

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Surf & Turf Restaurant serves locally sourced meat and fish dishes in a relaxed and elegant setting. While there’s no official late-night dining, the central location means you’re never far from pubs and eateries open late. Breakfast is available after a long night, and in-room tea and coffee make early mornings easier.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself favors tranquility over noise, you’ll find plenty of nightlife nearby—from cozy Scottish pubs to modern cocktail lounges. Many of Edinburgh’s most popular live music spots and bars are within walking distance or a quick taxi ride away.

What People Say

Guests rave about the spacious rooms, spotless bathrooms, and excellent location. Many highlight the professional, friendly staff and the restful atmosphere after a busy day (or night) in the city. The spa and pool are often mentioned as unexpected perks for a city-center hotel.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that while the hotel is close to action, it’s not right in the center—something to keep in mind if you prefer to be in the thick of things. A few travelers have mentioned that the decor is more classic than trendy, which may not appeal to those looking for ultra-modern design.

The Bottom Line

With its central-yet-quiet location, spacious rooms, and wellness facilities, the Edinburgh Holyrood Hotel is a standout choice for concert-goers wanting the best of both energy and ease.

Luxury close to Holyrood Palace

Liked: Really helpful from first contact (phone call when we couldn't find how to get to the entrance of the underground car park at the rear of the building). Fantastic shower and comfy beds with seating area. Great location close to Palace of Holyrood, where we were attending an event. Great choice of breakfast - hot, cold and al a carte including vegetarian. Gorgeous pool and sauna available 6.30am-10pm (weekdays). Upgraded to M Club with a quiet pleasant lounge with complimentary drinks and snacks as well as outdoor terrace.
Disliked: Air con set at 22°C, glad we turned it down before bed as the duvets were rather thick. Edinburgh is an expensive city to stay in and this was at the top end but absolutely worth it.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Disappointing

Liked: Great location, room was lovely, clean, bed very comfortable.
Disliked: Evening restaurant food was fair at best. Breakfast was inedible, tasted like someone had tipped a tub of salt into the scrambled eggs. Fresh fruit salad delicious. No draught beers available. Staff used fingers to place fruit into drinks - however used tongs when prompted. Stayed in this hotel 4 times previously. Very disappointed this time. For the price paid on this occasion (£349) I doubt I'd return, shame.
