Why Concert-goers love it

This motel is a hit with concert-goers thanks to its proximity to major venues like the Scotiabank Saddledome and Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium. You’ll be able to catch the last encore and still make it back in minutes. It’s also quiet enough for a post-show wind-down, plus the 24-hour front desk and nearby public transport make late-night returns easy. You’re a short ride away from Calgary’s vibrant downtown nightlife scene, filled with bars, lounges, and live music spots. Whether you're looking for craft beer or a mellow cocktail, you’ll have plenty of options nearby. For a quieter night, the in-room movie channels offer a relaxing way to wind down.

What People Say

Guests love the excellent value for money and the friendly front desk staff. The location is often highlighted as perfect for attending events across the city. Many reviewers mention the clean, well-equipped rooms with microwaves and fridges as a big plus. Reliable WiFi and free parking are also frequently appreciated.

Areas for Improvement

The motel is a bit dated in style, and some guests have mentioned that the soundproofing isn't perfect. Don’t expect luxury — but for the price, most feel it delivers exactly what’s needed.

The Bottom Line

Econo Lodge Motel Village is a budget-smart, well-located base for concert-goers who want to be close to the music without breaking the bank.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Stephanie, Regina

I booked a room for me and my buddy (we're a lass and a lad). I booked online, and I got to choose the type of room I wanted. I obviously specified two double beds, and a non-smoking room. When we checked-in, it felt like we weren't expected. Timid girl at the front desk said hesitantly, "Well...all we have is a room with one queen bed. Will that be alright?". To which I immediately replied, "NO." We then explain that we are not a couple, and she tells us that there is also a room with two double beds, but it's smoking. At this point I'm getting ticked off. I ask her why the hell is the room I specifically asked for when booking not available? She explains that because it was done online, it basically just doesn't matter what you ask for on there. Well that makes a hell of a lot of sense, doesn't it? Too fed-up and tired at this point to argue with the girl, so we say, screw it, let's go with smoking. Holy hell. I'm pretty sure I got cancer just walking in that room. My buddy smokes and we were both disgusted. He scanned the bedspread with his flashlight, and dried liquid of....some sort....looked like blood and semen were both staring us in the face. I couldn't do it. There's no way I could stay in this room. So, I march back down to the front desk, tell her everything I just told you, minus the bedspread liquid. She says we can have the other room with the queen bed, and she'll give us a cot. Wicked. I don't give a crap by this time and say, "Fine." So that's what we did. At no point was a discount or anything ever offered, which having worked in customer service for years before, seems like that might've been a good thing to do. And if you book something online, and are given the option of CHOOSING the type of room you want - shouldn't it be listed somewhere that that is nonsense, you will get what is left? I was pissed and won't be back. She didn't even apologize. 200 bucks for two nights....great. Don't stay here.

Liked: Fridge kept the liquor cold.
Disliked: It was gross.

Good stay

Liked: I was expecting a typical motel, but I was surprised to see the good facilities and the location (10 minutes walking from a LTR station).Breakfast was good: eggs, oranges, cereals, pancakes, muffins, bread, coffee and orange juice. I wasn't expecting so much variety. The room was clean.
Disliked: Everything was good.

Convenient hotel at reasonable price

Liked: We booked as we just needed someone overnight at a reasonable price. We were happy with the room. It was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was surprisingly good with a good choice.
Disliked: The male staff member in the afternoon was a little rude. He spoke very quickly and, due to his accent, I found him a little hard to understand at times. He got grumpy when he needed to repeat himself.
