The Spotlight on Econo Lodge Cortland

Affordable Comfort Between Cortland and Ithaca's Music Scene

Modern essentials meet small-town convenience at the Econo Lodge Cortland, a wallet-friendly hotel located in downtown Cortland. With free WiFi, comfortable rooms, and a cozy continental breakfast, this lodge-style stay is perfect for travelers heading to concerts in both Cortland and Ithaca. Just 20 miles from Cornell University and 23 miles from Ithaca College, it’s a smart base for hitting multiple venues in one weekend.

Why Concert-goers love it

Concert fans appreciate the central location between two major college towns with active live music scenes. The hotel’s easy highway access makes it ideal for catching a late show and heading back without hassle. While the vibe is peaceful, the proximity to destinations like Jim Butterfield Stadium and Ithaca’s music venues means you’re never far from the action. Plus, with check-in at 2:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM, there’s a bit of wiggle room for post-show sleep-ins.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends road-tripping to college-town concerts
- Solo travelers catching a show at a bucket-list venue
- Couples planning a low-key music weekend
- Fans seeking quiet after a loud night out
- Budget-conscious concert-goers who want value over frills

Food and Drink Options

A continental breakfast is available for all guests — ideal for those recovering from a late night. While the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant or 24/7 room service, Cortland’s local diners and quick bites are just a short walk or drive away, offering plenty of late-night eats and casual dining.

Nightlife Options

Though the Econo Lodge itself is a quieter spot, it places you close to the nightlife of both Cortland and Ithaca. Expect easy access to college bars, live music venues, and laid-back pubs featuring local brews. It’s a great hub for experiencing the upstate music culture without paying downtown prices.

What People Say

Guest reviews highlight the hotel’s clean rooms, friendly staff, and good value. Travelers often mention the free WiFi and convenient location as major perks, especially for those attending events at Cornell or Ithaca College.

Areas for Improvement

Some travelers mention the basic amenities and dated decor, but most agree it delivers well for the price. If you’re expecting luxury, this might not be your spot — but if you’re after a clean, simple place to crash post-show, it does the job.

The Bottom Line

Econo Lodge Cortland is a reliable and budget-friendly stay for concert-goers exploring the vibrant music scenes of Cortland and Ithaca.

Save Yourself.

Liked: Nothing. Stuff was so rude. There was stubbing. They kept trying to withdraw money from our account. They claimed that Booking.com cancelled our stay and that they were fully booked. But all rooms were empty. Drug dealers and users all night outside. Women were having sex on the front of the lodge. It was a nightmare. Police came over like 20 times in 3 days. Our neighbor was beating her husband up every night at 3am and kept us up all night.

Bad

Liked: Didn't like anything about the place. we went to check in there was a cop there doing a drug deal investigation. A woman was in the dumpster looking for garbage. They had homeless drug attics hanging around the hotel. Another woman was complaining that she had been robbed. So we left n never stayed there. I really want a full refond.

Bad

Liked: The location is great for a college reunion.
Disliked: Unsafe and it is actually a residence hotel. No working air-conditioner, the door was not secure, and the room smelled of mildew and stale smoke. It triggered an asthma attack in my friend.

Bad

Liked: It's was close to the kids school.
Disliked: I didn't like the room. Furniture was old and broken. The bathroom tub needs to be painted. WHILE showering, i felt as if I was standing on a bubble. The handle in the shower was broken. The large king size felt like we were sleeping a box spring. Very hard. The receptionist..smh was no where yo be found for 15 minutes upon check'in This place is horrible 😞. N the sad part is my family and I booked 5 rooms in August thinking it was a good place to stay.

Bad

Liked: I’ve already sent a complaint through the automated system. Apparently I’m waiting for Booking.com to reach out to this property and request my prepaid refund for room since we did not stay there as the room had a strong odor and filth under the mattresses/beds. We immediately requested a refund upon arrival on 6/27. I’m not from the area, but due to my son’s baseball tournament, I was for the weekend. After not seeing any email as promised from the clerk Cshah about being refunded ..I stopped into the property on Monday 6/30 at approximately 1:30pm. New staff argued with me , said Fridays clerk was new.. I told them we were promised refund.. want it since we had to fork out an additional 220$ for a holiday inn express! She then said I needed to contact you guys to contact them to enable the refund. So please do so…I played pro ball and collegiate ball.. traveled a ton..stayed in alot of places…that place should be shut down!! Feels and looks like a neighborhood low income housing project. Please help me in securing this refund..this place was unacceptable and still have plenty of traveling to do yet. THANK YOU!!Sincerely,Jeremy Deitrick

Passable

Liked: For the price it was just what I expect. We just need a place to sleep.
Disliked: The shampoo and conditioner dispenser were empty, when I asked if there was a late check out available, they said no. On the website they have a beautiful picture of breakfast when I went to check it out. There's only coffee available nothing else.
