Death trap

Liked: The location was great, the gardens are beautiful. Free parking is always great.
Disliked: The night we arrived, my daughter pulled the bed away from the wall to charge her phone and the plug was not covered and live, this was rather worrying as it could cause a fire etc. On the wednesday night my daughter brushed past the open plug and electrocuted herself. The young lady on duty was helpful and the maintenance team came out to isolate the plug. The young lady did not know how to fill in an accident book (basic health and safety training), my daughter assisted and it took the GM 24 hours to discuss the issue with us. He basically stated that I damaged the plug for self gain and that the plug was in perfect condition in the morning, I requested to see the inspection report and he stated that there isnt one but I need to take his word for it, he called my daughter a liar and offered 1 nights refund with the condition I dont report it to the HSE or police (admission of guilt). This has been reported to the police and HSE for putting our lives in danger due to shoddy maintenance. The staff became ruder by the day and extremely unprofessional.

Huge basement apartment, great for...

Liked: Lovely spacious basement apartment! Plenty of room for all the family. Comfortable bed. Plenty of fresh towels! About a 15 minute walk to the shops and restaurants. Great parking! Lovely staff, we’d stay again.
Disliked: The drain outside the door was quite smelly and it wafted in from time to time. We could see staff trying to sort it out, which was appreciated. Noisy from 7am with the dining room above, lots of banging, footsteps and the sound of people talking. Bath could benefit from a non slip mat, was very slippy when taking a shower. Toilet seat could do with being replaced, was quite chipped. There were no sponges or cloths for doing a quick wash up, we used the dishwasher at the end, but would have been nice.

Good

Liked: Clean, good breakfast, safe, comfy bed. Coffee, tea and biscuits in the room.
Disliked: No extra bed. A 15 min long walk from the town center. It was hot, they gave a tower fan which was not very powerful. No fridge.

Superb

Liked: Very comfortable stay, staff at reception desk were very friendly, helpful and polite and although it was not possible to check in early, they were able to accommodate a late check in after midnight instead to suit my schedule, which was greatly appreciated.

Great value for money

Liked: easy walking distance to monastery and town centre. Decent variety for breakfast. Great price. Lovely big room - our family room was twice the size of 'budget' hotels. Very easy to drive to and park up.
Disliked: Shower on 2nd floor room had weak pressure and it was quite hot in the room (at least the fan worked well). Amazing big house but it is looked a bit tired and damaged - such as old carpets and damaged curtains.
