Liked: Bedroom well stocked. Breakfast was good.
Disliked: The smallness of the room, particularly the bathroom.

Very good
Liked: I chose this hotel for its location as I was going to the cricket in the evening; it's a very short walk to the ground, but also convenient for the city centre attractions. Staff were were helpful. Good choices at breakfast. Bedroom was comfortable and spacious.
Disliked: Nothing major, but the room could do with a little TLC. There was a large crack in the window.

Comfortable and accommodating
Liked: There was variety of choices and all of it was of high quality. I never felt like I wanted something that wasn't there. A teapot would be a good idea though.
Disliked: There was a watermark on the ceiling in my room and the bathroom is a little dated

A grand old building with...
Liked: Large and super-comfortable bed (room 15).Staff.... excellent and attentive throughout. Breakfast was superb; self-service with full English cooked options (all kept hot!), and a huge choice of continental breakfast options, too. We're coffee drinkers... no complaints in that department either.Easy gentle walking access to the City centre and Cathedral. Private parking to the front of the hotel.Built circa 1867, this building is a wonderful piece of history. Guests shouldn't expect (imho) the decor to be to the same standard as a modern hotel (& it wasn't), but I've read a few reviews complaining about minor upkeep issues that made me think twice before booking, but this building is full of character and charm... a fairer definition of an almost 200 year old building. We will be back!!
Disliked: There are no USB points, and not enough power outlets. The shower would benefit from being changed to an electric pump as the existing cold water pressure is far too great for the gravity fed hot water, making the job of balancing them for a comfortable temperature, seriously difficult!
