Very good
Disliked: The only downsize is, we asked the restaurant to warm the up the food in the microwave that we had bought due to our son has allergies. The staff refused to warm up the food.

Dirty, uncomfortable, but tasty breakfast!
Liked: The grounds are beautiful and there are some lovely views with benches near the lake. There are multiple areas inside and outside to sit on a sofa. The breakfast is good and some of the staff, specifically Kaci-Marie, within the restaurant are aware of coeliac/allergy protocols. Kaci-Marie also showed us excellent service which is more than I can say for the front of house staff!
Disliked: The bathroom was filthy with visible dirt on the toilet seat, hair in the bath and on the walls of the shower area, and mould growing on the silicon and grouting. The towels and bathmat had clearly been used and refolded. (When I complained, someone came in and took pictures and cleaned up and supplied towels). The bed linen on one of the beds was dirty with hair, fluff and stains on pillow cases and sheets. (I saw this too late and we just slept on top of our own things)The TV remote and the phone to call reception were filthy. The beds were very uncomfortable - even my child could feel the springs poking her through the mattresses! There's NOTHING on Booking.com to indicate that booking a normal room as opposed to a "superior" room gives you anything other than more space and some snacks.... But, what they don't tell you is that the superior rooms also give you robes! This was not indicated on the booking email either. So, we arrived at the hotel unable to use the swimming pool (for the limited times that under 18's are allowed in the pool!) because we'd have to either shower and change in the public area (eeeuw) or walk back past a bar filled with drunken men to get changed in our room! When I mentioned it to the front of house staff on duty I was made to feel inadequate for having failed to book a "superior" room and given no option to upgrade or purchase a robe. Awful customer service.Dogs:I LOVE dogs and love hotels that allow dogs! But this hotel seems to think it's appropriate to allow guests to leave their dogs in the room howling and barking for hours whilst their owners are at the spa or restaurant. This disturbed a lot of guests and also is so distressing to listen to! All other establishments I have visited have had a "no leaving the animal alone in the room" rule.

Good service overall, but inconsistent...
Liked: BreakfastBreakfast was enjoyable — a classic British spread. We asked for some cheese, and the waiter kindly brought it over, which was a nice touch.RoomThe room itself was good, though not particularly soundproof.DinnerDinner was just okay. The highlight was our lovely waiter — she was very attentive and helpful.
Disliked: ReceptionWe requested a late checkout (just one extra hour), but were told the hotel was fully booked and no extensions were allowed. Interestingly, the day before, we overheard someone being granted a two-hour late checkout without issue. The receptionist didn’t even check the system before saying no, which makes me wonder — how are these decisions made? Based on availability, or based on who's asking?
