Liked: It's a great option, the rooms are good and clean, the price is high but it was the last night of SXSW...

Great location, but not a...

Liked: The location is excellent. You can walk to tons of great restaurants and bars in East Austin, and also downtown, along with nearby walking/biking trails and paths. The hotel itself is very cute, and I liked the outdoor sitting areas and pool.
Disliked: The showers were constantly out of hot water - out of the four showers I took, only one actually had hot water (and it wasn't just in the morning - also in the afternoon and at night). We stayed in the cabins with the communal restrooms which I believe were only cleaned once a day, so they never felt very clean since they were constantly being used. Only some of them had hand soap in them and none of them had hand/paper towels except for the main vanity outside of them. The room always had a musty feeling and smell. Our room faced the street and there was a weed/CBD truck outside that played extremely loud music starting in the early afternoon all the way til after midnight, so you definitely need to wear ear plugs at night (there's also lots of loud noise from the street in general, and from people in the hall going in and out of their rooms and the bathrooms). The bar/restaurant was often closed for private events, and when we did try to go there at 9:30 one night the bartender told us she would only give us beers or rail mixers since they closed at 10, so we decided to go elsewhere. So we never even got to try anything at the bar/restaurant. It has a nice view though on the second floor.

Good hotel for partying (not...

Liked: The location and facilities at this property were great. Cute pool and bar, super close to bars and restaurants. The room was clean, the shared bathrooms were clean but not cleaned after every use as the website described.
Disliked: If staying in the shared bathroom cabins particularly do not expect to get any sleep. The walls are paper thin. This would be a great base for partying but not much else. Music blasted from the stalls across the road until well into the early morning, even on a Wednesday. Windows don’t seal properly either so if you are sensitive to smells (cigarette and cannabis smoke + food smells from food trucks) I can’t recommend. I think these issues would be better if you stayed in the ensuite rooms as I believe they face the other side of the property, but as I did not stay there cannot comment.

The smaller "Cabin" style rooms...

Liked: Located just a couple blocks east of the Interstate on the infamous 6th Street, this retro-style hotel has a room style for any budget. We did the style they call "cabins" which are very small with a shared bathroom. That sounds like a step down but we never waited for a bathroom nor encountered a bathroom that wasn't clean. It's a concept that works. The central pool and roof top bar are a couple top notch amenities. There are food trucks, coffee bars and very good restaurants within blocks.
Disliked: While the well-done shared bathroom concept was a surprise there are two cost-cutting measures that really make a bad impression. The really cheap toilet paper with security dispenser you expect to see in a roadside rest-stop was a disappointment. Good luck getting more than a couple inches. And if you forgot to bring your hand towel from your room when you wash your hands, it's another "gotcha." There are no paper towels or hand dryers in the bathrooms. Overall a small annoyance on a good stay.
