OK for a short stay,...
Liked: The location was perfect for where I needed to be. For the most part, the facility was clean and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful.
Disliked: The inside of the facility reminded me of a college dormitory. This was the perfect example of minimalism. The breakfast was just enough, but did not include many options. The rooms were small and not especially well lit. I know it was Alaska, but the rooms were not air-conditioned. There was a ceiling fan and a floor box fan. For the price paid, there was not much value.

Dog uruin smell overwhelms
Liked: Not much. Other travelers were nice
Disliked: I checked into the Microtel in Eagle River and asked specifically for a ground floor room. The woman at the front desk was able to accommodate that, which I appreciated. However, the room we were given had an overwhelming odor of dog urine, mixed with what smelled like an attempt to cover it up with heavy air freshener. It was unpleasant and impossible to ignore. We returned to the front desk to ask for another room. The same woman jokingly called me a “pain in the ass.” While we both laughed, I couldn’t shake the feeling that she meant it at least halfway. She then reminded me—smugly—that this is a pet-friendly hotel. I told her that was fine with me, as I’m a pet-friendly guy myself (I have two dogs), but I also don’t let them urinate in my house.Instead of being helpful, it felt like I was being punished for asking. She moved us to the top floor, which wasn’t ideal, and that room still had a noticeable dog urine smell — not as strong, but still very present.I get that pet-friendly hotels come with some challenges, but there’s a big difference between “pet-friendly” and “unclean.” At a minimum, rooms should be properly cleaned and odors addressed before guests arrive. Sadly, this experience didn’t meet even basic expectations for comfort or hospitality

Too hot and longer bag...
Liked: Price
Disliked: Heat was up in hotel hotter than outside in summer. Too hot and the staff didn’t check or use the preregistration we had asked for first floor 2 days prior and they don’t assign room till day of and didn’t give us first floor when we paid for room 9 months ago. Breakfast has no meat.
