Disappointing
Liked: The location was ok. Not really in walking distance to anything.
Disliked: The hotel was very dark and dated. The staff didn't really engage with you. Dated fabric sofas on 2nd floor near lift served no purpose and were quite smelly!Pillows smelled a bit stale.All in all the hotel is need of a complete refurbish!The outdoor pool wasn't particularly clean and the steps going down to the pool were in bad repair.The room was quite warm and the window only opened about 2 inches.

Never worth £220 a night
Liked: The pool
Disliked: When I politely asked if there was a bar by the pool the man behind reception answer was "this isn't ibiza "! Rude I thought ! The room was disgusting paper coming off walls on all the walls broken lamp shades different colour tiles in bathroom could not change temperature of shower to boiling hot no plug socket near a mirror dirty fridge when we complained on our return home (we were there for our sisters wake ) so didn't complain at the time we were grieving.the management mor or less said in a email TOUGH as you didn't complain at the time Tea and coffee not replaced evan tough we did ask at reception for this to be done.. breakfast was all cheap produce will not stay again !!!

Very disappointing - not as...
Liked: Plenty of parking
Disliked: Everything - it was very dark, everything was grubby and needed a good clean, also needed maintenance work and some money spent on the property to bring it up to standard. Some of the staff were miserable and rude.

Reasonable quality for the price...
Liked: Location close to Appledore and Westward Ho. Staff were helpful in the main. The young lady and young man serving breakfast were pleasant and were trying their best. I suspect they were new and learning. For a three star hotel this was reasonable.
Disliked: A little bit tired and in need of an upgrade. Could be a very nice hotel. Pillow cases were a bit grubby looking.

A Devon Gem
Liked: The hotel and staff are absolutely fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble, it's like being at home with extras.Food is generous and tasty. Bedrooms and beds are large and comfortable. The pool area is a lovely relaxing space.An absolute Devon gem.When in Devon, it will be the only place I will want to stay.
