Not good

Liked: Nothing
Disliked: I asked for a ground floor room upon booking, I was emailed to say this had been arranged but when I turned up this hadn?t. Also we had a power cut for 3/4hours during the night whilst the temp was in the 30s - no fan or air con throughout the night was unbearable. If I hadn?t of drank alcohol we would of left immediately. Very disappointed.

A real disappointment, this was...

Liked: The exterior and grounds are lovely. the air conditioning in the room worked and provided pleasant respite from the heat. The swimming pool and spa facilities were fine.
Disliked: Where do we start?! Our room was a long way from Reception with an inadequate map provided and a complete lack of signage to get there, through several corridors, two different flights of stairs and lifts. In our room, the taps on the bath were loose and we couldn?t get the shower to work. I tried ringing Reception several times and got no answer. Eventually managed to track down someone from Housekeeping and we got the shower working. The most disappointing part, however, was the restaurant. The food was weird and very bland. Dry chicken served with chips and a pile of lettuce with grated cheese on top (shown as Chicken Supreme on the menu). We witnessed other tables complain and it was obvious that the quality of food was poor and the restaurant was understaffed. Breakfast the following morning was just as bad. Long wait to be served awful coffee. The buffet food was poor and had run out almost completely by the time we got down (half an hour before service stopped).

Great hotel but has suffered...

Liked: fabulous settings and a lovely old building. we have stayed here numerous times and never cease to have a smile as we drive up to the entrance. The food was excellent in both the Brasserie and in the bar. The leisure facility was good and well maintained.
Disliked: Service was a bit hit and miss. Kate our server on the 2nd night we ate in the Brasserie was excellent but the first night service was disappointing as we were expecting a starter which failed to materialise and set the tone for the evening. Our room was tired and was showing its age. The en-suite felt like it needed some serious attention. Nothing serious just disappointing, particularly given we have stayed here pre covid. If we had payed for a 3 star hotel I probably wouldn?t have found issue, but we didn?t and for a 4 star hotel (with 4 star prices) it was really disappointing.
