Beautiful building & breakfast, needs...

Liked: The external property is stunning, so picturesque and lovely grounds, the room was a great size and really happy dogs could stay too. The breakfast was unbelievable, really speedy and good quality!
Disliked: The property is a bit outdated, and sadly the bathroom in our room had a huge patch of black mould growing on the ceiling, and mould around the shower seals too. The bed also made a lot of noise when you laid down or rolled over, it was comfy but difficult to sleep with the noise. And the walls also appear to be very thin, our neighbours came back early hours and we could hear every word they said in their room and heard everything from the bathroom, toilets flushing, taps on etc, quite hard to sleep through the noise.

Very dog friendly!

Liked: Super friendly welcome, lovely staff and we loves that the whole hotel was dog friendly! Our border terrier Haggis loved his stay also.
Disliked: Quite a lot of potholes on the way in. Other than that, a great choice of stay.

Unpleasant Stay

Liked: The hotel had a car park.The staff were friendly and helpful.
Disliked: We didn't like the room it was very basic, very dated and well used and lots of dust inside the drawers so I kept my things in my suitcase.We didn't like the breakfast it was quite tasteless products.Location was okay we got a taxi to the town centre as it was too far to walk.We had a booking for later on in the year again but we cancelled it when we got home as it wasn't a very pleasant stay we opted instead to stay in another location just a short distance away.Hotel was a bit noisy so if ypu are a light sleeper then take ear plugs.

Pleasant

Liked: We liked the look of the building, nice garden and local walk for the dog. The public areas were nice, the evening meal very nice and the breakfast just ok. One young female employee seemed to be everywhere, reception, bar, serving evening meal and on again in the morning. She was very friendly and helpful and the hotel is dog friendly.
Disliked: We didn't get the room we asked for. We had booked the deluxe room with Booking.com which we were realy looking forward to and the cost was discounted by them down to the normal cost of a standard room. When we got there we were given a standard room and told that the hotel only had 2 deluxe rooms and they were both booked. The room was red hot and the radiator couldn't be adjusted. When we reported this the radiator was simply switched off and no substitute provided. The shower room swung open when in use resulting in a flood on the floor, the light above sink wasnt working, plaster and paint peeling off on the bathroom wall, no mirror anywhere to dry hair. We complained to both the hotel and Booking.com about the room but nothing was done, no-one admitted responsibility and we were not compensated. The employee mentioned above made the stay tolerable but if our room is representative of the standard of rooms in this hotel we would not recommend.

Excellent place to stay for...

Liked: We were very pleased with our stay which was last minute. Comfortable clean room and friendly welcoming staff.
Disliked: There were no problems at all.
