Good
Liked: The size of the room. The location. The car park. The staff in the dining room
Disliked: We were cold and had to ask for the heating to be switched on. Took 2 attempts. Our room wasn't cleaned on the last day. Had to ask for tea, coffee, milk, etc. and clean towels at reception. These were brought to us, but paying for a deluxe room wasn't the service we expectedThe fact that nobody apologised didn't help. There seems to be an ambivalent attitude to a lot of things, and they seem to be short staffed? If you want a 'trio of ice cream', don't order it as it is one icy blob of vanilla with one strawberry and some kind of juice... not nice and expensive.

Great if need to get...
Liked: Close to Dumfries House. Parking available. Okay breakfast.
Disliked: Lack of staff in bar. Tried to charge me twice for room.

A very pleasant stay
Liked: Ideally located for access to either Troon or Ardrossan ferry ports when travelling to the Isle of Arran, especially when the point of departure is changed at short notice from the latter to the former, as it was in our case. The magnificent Dumfries House and Gardens are only a short drive away (2miles) by car. Robert Burns’ Birthplace Museum is located a little further afield, in the village of Alloway - worth a visit.
Disliked: N/A
