Potential to be a great...
Liked: Fabulous central location, facing on to Tuesday Market Square (generally parking), beautifully renovated, quiet and characterful public areas of a classic coaching inn. Friendly, helpful staff. M&S and very well regarded award-winning but reasonable 'Mem's Kitchen' Mediterranean restaurant a few steps up the road to the left (opposite M&S)
Disliked: I needed an accessible room for my 94 year old mother. Although they told me they had a lift and step-free access and a walk-in shower, there are no accessible rooms - ie they don't have the handrails that my mother needed to use the shower etc. Similarly no emergency buttons or pulls. I am surprised there is not a legal obligation to provide these. The situation worsened on check-out day because the one and only lift failed. Luckily my mother was able to get herself down the stairs with her stick. Being short, she was unable to reach the hanging rail or any storage except the lowest 'pigeon hole' (no drawers in rooms). There was also no wifi in her room - 106. Staff said wifi was 'sketchy' - not great in our room 302 either. We opted for the breakfast which was good value at UKP12.50 pp but having just got back from Europe we were disappointed by comparison - only two types of sliced bread for toast, pre-cooked fried eggs swimming in fat - the staff happily made scrambled egg one day, poached the next but neither were good - barely cooked tomatoes, no cheese. Thermos of percolated black coffee - no coffee machine or options - and only cheap acidic orange juice and sweet apple juice.

Lovely hotel, but beware that...
Liked: Great location for spending the day in Kings Lynn, bar and restaurant staff were great
Disliked: I’d asked for a quiet room, but for some unknown reason I was put in the room that was closest to the nightclub next door, which was playing VERY loud music until 1am - not impressed. I’ve been promised a partial refund, but no sign of it yet - stayed 6 weeks ago!!!
