A grand old building in...

Liked: Big posh old school hotel. Quiet location with attractive riverside views. Good breakfast. Massive bed. Hot shower. Clean and tidy despite being a grand old building. Very good private car park.
Disliked: Location was a bit more out of the way than expected, e.g. a bit too far to walk to a nearby village. Occasional noisy plumbing. TV universal remote didn't cover all the functions. Balcony door stiff to open.

It suited my purpose but...

Liked: No comment
Disliked: On arrival I was told I could not have breakfast until 9.30. I said this was totally unacceptable as I had to be at my next destination by that time. I said the hotel information said breakfast on Sunday was from 8.00am to which the receptionist said the 8.00am breakfasts had been reserved. My response was that there was no information to say one had to book breakfast. Final the receptionist gave me a 7.45 time. Go figure ! At 8.00 am there were only three tables occupied. I’ve never encountrrrd anything quite like it.

For £138 per night, B&B...

Liked: The lovely location. Comfortable bed.
Disliked: I spoke to the staff about an evening meal as instructed by reception on arrival. After much conferring was told they had no room for me. a 6 mile round trip to the takeaway followed. The over bath shower didn't work and shampoo in room was missing.
