Good in parts.

Liked: The staff at all times were helpful, friendly and did their best to sort out any problems as quickly as they could. The room was spacious, comfortable and quiet.Breakfast was good and the restaurant room a very nice place to be.A very pleasant spot by the river in good countryside.
Disliked: When we arrived the room was freezing. The heating was provided by an electric radiator which I switched on and the central heating radiators which were off. The same happened when we returned to the room in the early evening the next day and after telling the lady at reception she found the central heating had not been switched on for that part of the hotel. Our friends suffered with the same problem in another room. On the third night we spent some time in the evening in the first floor lounge, which again, was freezing. Again the reception was called to switch the heating on. In both cases, the lady at reception had not realised and seemed not to have been shown how to switch the heating on in the different areas of the hotel. Our room was very nice but I didn't expect to find the waste bin in the bathroom full of the last guests' rubbish. The top of the tap on the bath came off in my hand. Both of these are minor but along with the cold room didn't give a good first impression when we arrived. This was not a cheap room and we were disappointed. The restaurant was closed when we were there even though the hotel was full and the only option to eat in the hotel was the bar menu which was limited. The bar itself is not a very inspiring place to eat and the food arrived luke warm.

Nice location but dont eat...

Liked: Great location, friendly reception staff, An interesting place to stay.
Disliked: Restaurant service was a joke. Food was good but in evening asked for desert menu. Given it then waited and waited for my order to be taken. Ignored so gave up and settled my bill, Breakfast was the same - same wiater same attitude. Given breakfast menu and ignored. I was the only customer! Couple came in after me and order taken quickly - I was still ignored. After 15 minutes I got up and found waiter who reluctantly took my order. Wasnt worth the wait - overcooked and poached egg was rock hard. Wont be back.
