Very good

Liked: Staff were amazing, so polite and efficient. Room is very boutique, style and individual. Breakfast was lovely, with a good variety to choose from. The full English was more than enough to keep you going and very tasty ingredients. Loved the miniature milk bottle in the room, with proper milk.
Disliked: Rooms were very hot. There were fans provided, but really didn't help cool it down. Their was a problem with the shower in our room number 10 and you could not turn the temperature down and was set far too hot for a comfortable shower. That said, when I made reception aware, they offered an alternative room. The only reason I have not given an exceptional rating, is the cleanliness of both rooms let the hotel down. The main areas, shower, sink, bedding, etc. were very clean, but there was dust accumulating in certain areas which clearly had not been cleaned in a while. The floors also needed a thorough clean. The lighting was also quite dim in both rooms.That said, we would return as thoroughly enjoyed our stay and was good value for the location, service and food

Disappointing stay after first impression...

Liked: ****UPDATE!! So after I wrote this review I was contacted by the manager and offered a refund as this is not the level of service they hope to offer. I think this says a lot about this place in how professionally they dealt with this complaint and I will 100% come back next in town to try again and hopefully we have a much better experience. Thank you like I said before how a company deals with a complaint says so much more about them than the faults that happened. Staff friendly, food pretty good but the room was our main focus for going there.
Disliked: I actually want to discuss about a possible partial refund as had to ask for bed to be remade as it was dirty! the toilet was disgusting! The bathroom door handle was coming off, the shower and toilet were in one room together with the sink the other said of the bedroom! Yuck!! The bath tub in the room was cute but the plug didn't fit in it properly so slowly the water seeped away and the lounging bench around it was almost impossible to lie on as they hadn't left room for legs to hang down and it was filthy! The room was shoddy and not well done. Lots of things wrong. Breakfast was served after over a 45 minute wait! made us late home! but was ok. 1/2 a mushroom, cold toast with rock hard butter was just annoying! attention to detail is lacking in a potential diamond of a place as the property is pretty.No fridge in the room.The stairs to the property were an iron spiral staircase which was very scary to walk up and down to.Floorboards uneven and hurt feet so kept shoes on. Decor shabby, dusty all over beams, the fans were covered in it. cracked wall tile. mould in bathroom.

Fabulous hotel in the heart...

Liked: Spacious and comfortable room, lovely bath! Comfy bed! Polite and friendly staff, in the heart of Bedford :) look forward to returning.
Disliked: No faults

Lovely character hotel in central...

Liked: Nice interior with a lovely bar , breakfast and outdoor area. The breakfast was really nice and included in the price of the room. The central location was excellent.
Disliked: It was a really hot weekend- a heatwave and the room was a little hot even with the fan provided.

Liked: This is my fourth stay. I come to visit my dentist as I now live quite some way away ! As a lady travelling alone, I always feel really safe here. I really enjoy sitting in the bar and never feel awkward about being there on my own. The food is great, the rooms comfortable and there’s always a great welcome. The staff are lovely.
Disliked: Nothing

Disliked: As an older person I would expect an old property like this to have a lift up the several stairs going to the room.

Exceptional

Liked: We had a great stay. Everything exceeded our expectations. The room was spotlessly clean and competitively priced. Centrally located on a lovely road, within walking distance of local bars and restaurants.There was also a lovely breakfast in the morning. We would definitely stay again!
